I'm mad happy to see practically everyone is helping fill up the servers. I myself really want to join in as i typically try to, but I'm unable to do so currently. Why? My GF's wireless sucks and I cannot leave the living room of her condo without my ping jumping to 500, and then I obviously lag out. So for now, I'm unable to play online.


I'm going to get a USB wireless network adapter to boost the signal. I have already tried editing router config options, and switching channels, etc.. NAH BRO NOTHING WORKS.

Also, I'm happy to report that she knows DoD is essential and she has simply stopped annoying me about playing every so often.. She may even join eGO, as she herself plays every so often. Now if I can get her to stop rage quitting, I will be successful in life.

Haha, if the new USB adapter doesn't work you might want a new router. Would you mind letting me know what kind of built in wireless card you have, and what kind of router you have? I think I can offer some advice on what is best to get.

True that.. I've looked into the router being the issue and I'm unsure.. Wireless card is an Atheros ar9285 802.11b/g/n/ WiFi Adapter.. Router is a Belkin F7D2301 V1.

FWIW Fab, I got a new router and it was like night and day. My old one was an old Linksys G, though.

I've read such about the huge differences involved, but my knowledge on networking in general is fairly limited.. I am going to do research on the belkin router. I have already messed around with the routers settings page and it hasn't made any difference. Changing frequencies and channels either renders it useless or the same as it is now.


I cannot go out of maybe 15 ft range of this router in her condo or it will be very slow or not work at all as far as with internet browsing and impossible to go online with source games, or any game really.

Even if I'm close to the router , DoDs lags badly. I won't crash unless i go to far away from it, but I'm used to playing with a ping of 35 and zero latency/lag issues so I get very very aggravated. I can however player HL1 based games near the router no lag or any other connection problems at all..


I used to just run an Ethernet cable to the laptop when I was over here in the past but that's mad annoying, there's no where to hide it so it looks like crap, and I'm too lazy. That being said, I need to improve the wireless. The laptop itself goes beyond the requirements for source games like DoDs so i know that ain't the problem.

I have decided myself that perhaps amplifying the signal with a wireless usb network adapter could make my situation much better.. I'm growing annoyed that I cannot destroy on avalanche and elsewhere for a few days now -_-

Is the router broadcasting in 802.11g or 802.11n. Thats a big difference. Also, at other places, do you experience issues, it may help track down router v wireless card, right now it looks like the router might be the culprit.

Update: After googling, the router seems to have very sub par reviews. It either works or it absolutely sucks.
So I think I'm going to recommend a new router, just shoot me a price range you want to spend.
Out of curiosity, how old is the wireless card as well?
