New Monitor

My pick: ASUS VS248H-P Black 24" 2ms HDMI LED Backlight
1) Free Shipping and Handling (save $9)
2) Lighter (9lbs vs 12.15 lbs) - Though some people prefer heavier models. This is more personal preference
3) Power consumption is lower -> lower energy bills over longer length of time
4) I like the idea that it has LED Backlight
5) I don't like my monitors having built-in speakers - Again, it's personal preference
6) It has EPEAT Gold certification.

Both are 2.

I'm trying to figure out why the LCD costs so much. The LED one hands down. It's a pretty significant difference when you compare them side by side. I use an LCD as my second monitor and it looks horrible compared to my LED.
 
I should add as one more reason: Because I chose it. You know that's all the reason you need Leftenant.
 
Hard to say without seeing them in person but just from the newegg site...

I noticed the 246H is rated as brighter (300 vs. 250 cd/m2). 250 sounds kinda low to me. I know that backlit LED's are supposed to be bright so maybe that makes up for it but still, I might be concerned about those numbers.

The other thing is the stand on the 248H looks flimsy compared to the 246H. Over time, depending on how your setup is, I'd wonder if the stand would hold up with vibrations from walking around, bumping the desk etc. Would hate to have a screen tilting just after warranty.
If you plan on using a VESA mount, no worries then.

The cabinet color is glossy on one and not the other. I don't know if that would translate to the screen as well but again, depending on setup and light, a glossy screen isn't for everyone due to reflections getting in the way. A glossy cabinet would show more fingerprints but not sure why anyone would need to touch the bezel anyway.

Guess I'd look into the brightness thing, and adding the stand concerns would probably sway me towards the 246H. Return policy on screens at Newegg?

Wrong. The 2ms response is Gray to Gray. Most monitors with a 5ms mean black to black. It says right on neweeg 2ms GTG, which means gray to gray. So actually, it has about the same 5ms response as every other monitor, Asus is just lying ( or using a different measurement system, either way you see it.)
