Psshhh every school I went to had a computer lab or classes with computers... for computer related classes.
But I never had the luxury of typing "omg soooo bored at school" while having access to the internet. Back in the day we used to do this thing called "talking to the people around you" normally by insulting someone or finding a common hatred-- good life lessons to be used throughout life.

Being in school at the time I barely got a cell phone back then... didn't have internet on those things at the time.
And by the time we finally got internet on phones or people started bringing laptops to class, the professors would say, "No technology in class students."
They caught on really fast...
Still, like Stormy, only time for internet was probably the computer classes... and learning the quick technique of 'Alt+tab' so when the teacher came along, they'd only see the 'work' we were doing

Going to date myself here, I didn't have a cell phone until 2001. Closest thing I had to it when I was in High School was the pay phone in which if we needed picked up or something we had to call collect to our parents and if they were coming they wouldn't accept the charges.......internet was only available in a computer lab or in the library and there were only a few sites and search engines we could actually use.
