I'm probably going to buy this P.C. Let me know if this will work well with D.O.D

OPERATING SYSTEM Genuine Windows® XP Home Edition - English

MONITOR 20 inch E207WFP Widescreen Digital Flat Panel

MEMORY 4GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 800MHz- 4DIMMs

HARD DRIVE 500GB Serial ATA Hard Drive (7200RPM) w/DataBurst Cache™

OPTICAL DRIVE 16x DVD+/-RW Drive

VIDEO CARD nVidia GeForce 8600GT-DDR3 256MB

SOUND Integrated 7.1 Channel Audio

KEYBOARD & MOUSE Dell USB Keyboard and Dell Optical

USB Mouse

MODEM & WIRELESS Dell 1505 Wireless-N PCIe Card

I would personally get Vista, because it can use most of the RAM you have, as XP cant use as much, but it will still run great.

Please tell me you are not buying from dell?

I can make you a list of better stuff, for cheaper. All you would need to do is put it together or have someone do that for you.

OPERATING SYSTEM You need a 64 bit version to use the 4gb.

MEMORY 4GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 800MHz- 4DIMMs

VIDEO CARD Go for an 8800 or higher

OK first off I would recommend Vista 64 bit due to the fact that XP only can handle 3 Gigs of memory and everything else is wasting your money. The 64 bit version I believe can handle 16 Gigs of memory :) Anywho, your processor is rock solid so no worries there, ummm...I would recommend a Samsung monitor, MX518 Logitech Gaming Mouse (it's AMAZING) and the iCEMAT 2nd Edtition Mousepad (works great with the MX518). Your VGA is also sweet so no worries there either. If you really want to get into it you can get a better sound card (but you don't have to I run integrated :p) Lastly, I would stay away from Dell...All in all no worries dude your computer will run DoD GREAT!

A lot of people didn't like Vista to begin with, but it's excellent now and it really does wipe the floor with xp. Most of the kinks are out of it, don't get xp get vista.

I still like XP better. Vista is just a big shiny version of an OS and essentially flopped like ME/NT. THis is why Microsoft has already announced/begun work on its next OS anyway.

I would actually plan to get a better processor than that if you plan to get newer games too. (If you have the money or want to play newer games better) I'd also agree that getting an upgrade for a monitor would be helpful.

I would definitely build a pc myself and get a better one for the same price you'd pay for a pre-assembled one.

What people don't understand is that XP is actively being phased out by Microsoft. I'm not sure when, but sometime between 2009-2012, MS will stop supporting XP. As in, no patches, tech support, etc. XP users will be left in the dust like roadkill. Get with the program!

and while xp is being phased out, vista still sucks for drivers and everything else.

i have a similar setup just like yours

Intel 2 QuadCore Q6600
Windows XP Home
2x2GB Corsair DDR2 800 Ram
eVGA Nvidia 9600GT 512mb

dod:s runs silky smooth. good setup, but my ram registers 3.25gb ram. other than that, its splendid.

btw: i bought the Q6600 for 199.99 at Microcenter when they had their deal.

YEA thats gonna work work well i almost have the same but if your gonna get a new speaker system thats a surrond sound system like mine go buy a new sound card(creative)

my new rig is is similar except with an 8800GT graphics card and I get over 100fps on most maps with the lowest around 85'ish on some customs that are have wide open field areas. Changes the game entirely.....enjoy!

vista sucks man!

XP would not be phased out until they can make vista work the way its supposed to, and i don't see that happening for the next two years.

and you can still get support for 98 and me so why would they not support the ever-popular xp?
