Iv'e been playing TF2 since it was made Free 2 play and it turns out that i like it alot actually. So like anyone who wants more out of there game i became premium and got into trading after easily after getting some metal saved up,but let me cut to the chase about this thread.Like the title suggests i'm feeling a little unsure about TF'2 pricing spreadsheet that every trader iv'e met follows. With that being said i'm hoping to find traders here on eGO who don't really follow the spreadsheet's pricing on all items. I can realize the difference of when the item someone is selling has high value and when they're just being down right greedy for it:mad:.An example is the recent and popular item vavle released for the community the fast learner for the scout. I understand its a new item and all. But for one its craft able, two its drop able, and 3 its available to be purchased from store. So why is a clean version of it worth a bills hat or more? Outrageous i say
:c

Most super serious traders don't follow the spreadsheet. It's just a guideline. You should check out tf2outpost.com to look at some past trades.

I've checked there last week but most offers for that item were seriously dumb. Im not sure if it's went down since then but ill have another gander over there

It's that expensive because it can't be found from a random drop, its only gotten from randomly crafting a hat and purchasing (for dirty) like alot of recent community contributed items. Expect it to drop in price later but for now you'll have to pay a ton for it. Keep in mind that the spreadsheets a reference and is nowhere near completely accurate when you're trading.

always go to tf2tp.com and search for people who are selling the item. there will be those who are overpricing but you'll get the general idea.

searching for those who want to buy the item can lead to bunch of lowballing but there will be some reasonable offers.

spreadsheet is meant to be a rough estimate. it's never meant to be accurate, particularly with items such as buds and bills. the price chances pretty week or so.

Okay i see now was a little worried about that when i saw it cause if that misc is really worth a bill ,which most bills sell for 10keys id be paying more for the bill then i would for a dirty fast learner

bills are limited in # and their price can only go up.

fast leaner is NOT limited in number. it can be bought, crafted, and it is even dropable. there will be more and more of these as time passes by and hence the price will go down and down. eventually it'll hit a steady price. right now it's overpriced as hell because of high demand. wait a few months or so and it'll be down by a lot.

every good item is worth high when it comes out. Team Captain used to be worth almost a bills at one point. now it's going for what 4 refined?

moral of the story: be patience with trading and don't trade limited promo items for hat/misc that'll be abundant in no time.

Any new item that looks good will be expensive as hell for the first while. When it first comes out its rare and people are willing to pay lots for it. When the villains veil first came out it was 9-12 refined. By the time I got around to buying one it had dropped to 4.

Also keep in mind any craft numbers < 100 are extremely valuable to collectors and will go for absurd prices.

"It's the economy, stupid."

As A Pro-Unusual/Promo Trader, I Can Tell You That Spreadsheets Are Not Good At Pricing Anything Worth 10Keys +, But There Good For Genuines, Hats, Etc. Btw I Can Price Check Anything You Have For Free :P (Like I Do For A lot Of People)

I generally like to trade with people I know, i.e. people in eGO and friends, so there's less of a chance of me getting ripped off.

Spreadsheet prices have always had mixed opinions about them. Most trading websites (tf2tp, tf2outpost, sourceop) usually go by that price, but traders in-game go with something more or less.

It's usually about who you find, but the SS usually gives this set price that users usually work around.

Has a white Bills and white Fancy Fedora, completely uninterested in all other forms of hat.

Don't rely on spreadsheet prices. The best way to gain insight into the current item values is to watch trading sites such as TF2TP and TF2Outpost. As you become a more experienced trader, you will develop a better feel for approximate item values.
