What you need to know before you fight on Auraxis

Choose The Right Faction

The three different factions aren't just three different colors of armor and looks of weaponry and vehicles. They are very unique from one another and all three fit very unique play styles. Make sure you choose the right faction that suites your needs, and, if you have others you are playing with make sure you reach an agreement on which faction you want to join together.

VANU SOVEREIGNTY

Background: The Vanu Sovereignty (VS) gained their name from a long past alien race. The strange artifacts were discovered on the planet of Auraxis shortly after the first expeditionary forces from the Terran Republic arrived. From the research of these artifacts came the discovery of "rebirthing" technology, and the offer of immortality. Terran Republic scientists were forced to keep research on this new technology secret. However, the Vanu managed to persuade some "free-thinking" scientists to join their cause. As news of the wormhole collapse begin to spread throughout the Republic, leadership began to grow anxious. Fearing that their lives may be in danger from the paranoid and oppressive Republic, the Vanu broke away, managing to gain control of several rebirthing facilities. The Vanu Sovereignty seeks to destroy the Republic for years of devastating oppression and lies. Because the New Conglomerate declared war on them, the VS have reacted in kind, equally hating them as they do the Terran Republic.
Through the use of the mysterious Vanu technology, exotic energy weapons were invented. Also, the VS discovered the ability to improve the human body through modification. This alteration of the human species generated great suspicion and hatred by the Terran Republic and the New Conglomerate.
The VS weapons rely on quickly energizing a splash of plasma-like ammunition that destroys the very bonding attributes of the elements that make up the armor and the flesh of enemy combatants. Although it does not have the impact of the NC weapon systems, nor is it able to equal the rate of fire of the TR weaponry, it is incredibly deadly over a wider area due to the viscosity of the energy.

Play VS like a Pro: VS Players are sharp shooters, quick scopers, and stealth ops. Their weaponry consist of slow rate of fire, heavy hitting bullets. They will have the far distance (AWP like) rifles, and the 2 shot (scout like) quick rifles. VS players are men't to take clean shots that to DAMAGE. if there are 3 enemy's ahead, take steady shots to take them all out. Or just turn on your cloaking and pass right on by. Since they use energy weapons, there is not nearly as much bullet drop as the other factions, as well as recoil. Aim, Shoot, and move on. If things get rough, Quick-scope a few, pull out your beamer (pistol) to finish one off, and hit the cloaking or jetpack when things get out of hand and get back into battle once you have collected yourself. Vanu play best during the night. Their night vision and Thermal vision are superior, and are harder to see at night. Always plan your raids at at dusk.

TERRAN REPUBLIC

Background: The Terran Republic (TR) is the empire from which the story begins. Having existed for 1,112 years, it is the originator of all three empires. The Terran Republic was officially established with the ratification of the Declaration of Constancy by nations weary of nearly two hundred years of war. They brought order out of chaos and introduced the world to an era of peace. Terrans eventually made space travel possible. From this, Wormholes were discovered, studied, and found to be a means of transportation from one area of space to another. It is through one of these wormholes that the Terran Republic found their way to Auraxis, an earth-like planet that could sustain life. They proceeded with their ambitious plans of colonization on Auraxis which continued uninterrupted for 20 years. Things radically changed when the wormhole collapsed stranding the entire expeditionary force. They began research on how they could re-open the wormhole, which utlimately failed. During these uncertain times, "Vanu" artifacts were being discovered on Auraxis. Shortly after this, the development of "Rebirthing" technology began. It started to become clear to the Terran Leadership that this new technology could possibly destabilize future colonies. They established draconian restrictions on the new technology, so they could study it better without interruption or meddling by private companies or individuals. A sense of immortality began to create turmoil between developing groups of people with significantly different philosophies as to how the technology should be used. Already, a faction of technophiles emerged embracing the Vanu technology and its lost knowledge.
Unrest formed between the developing factions which was exacerbated by rogue scientists and republic military deserters, all blinded by the power that the Vanu Technology promised to bring. Previous attempts to quell the uprising ended in a bloody battle and resulted in the separation of the Technolords, who then declared themselves the Vanu Sovereignty. While this was going on, a second faction called the New Conglomerate seized the opportunity while the Terran Republic was occupied and left the overbearing Republic.
The Terran's weapons focus on killing their opponents using a rapid rate of fire, sacrificing damage for this ability. While their weapons have the highest rate of fire of the three empires, they do not have as much damage on impact.

Play TR like a Pro: TR have the highest rate of fire in weaponry. If you like to spray and pray, then this is your faction. The bullets don't do as much damage, but the rate of fire makes up for that. If you are Infantry, find a group of Enemy's or (NME's) that are together, and pull that trigger while you crough and compensate for recoil. you will drop more than you expect. they have bigger clips as well so ammo won't be as big as a problem like the NC. iron sights are your best friend. and Terran play better in the day time. Use the Sun to your advantage and always attack with it behind you.

Weapons
Melee: Chain Blade

NEW CONGLOMERATE

Background: The New Conglomerate (NC) split from the Terran Republic due to its totalitarian oppression. Over a century before the wormhole collapse, there was a small group of freedom-fighters that called themselves "Liberty's Call". They staged a demonstration protesting the Republic's apparent systematic elimination of human rights. A large group of people gathered to hear their views; however, the Terran Republic's Riot Police put an end to the demonstration, killing every protester and even several innocent onlookers. Now, with the wormhole collapse, the New Conglomerate is determined to write a new history. A history free of the overbearing and draconian Republic. In the process of their separation, they gained control of several rebirthing facilities. Now, they work on recruiting an overwhelming army to crush their oppressive enemy, the Terran Republic.
The New Conglomerate also strives to destroy the Vanu Sovereignty. Considered "freaks", the VS are accused of attempting to mold humanity to their own alien-influenced views. The NC believes that the Vanu view the human race as a flawed species, and they will do what it takes to mold it into something different, something alien, thus destroying the human race.
The New Conglomerate's philosophy on warfare stresses brute force, thus their tactics rely upon heavy tanks, hard-hitting weapons systems, and shields hoping to smash the enemy in the initial contact before they can react.

Play NC like a Pro: VEHICLES VEHICLES VEHICLES, MAX UNITS, MAX UNITS, MAX UNITS! NC are great against them, and great with them. they are all around good fighters. If you were to make a character in a fantasy MMO, this faction would pretty much be putting your Str, Cha, End, ect. ect. right down the middle, and adding a little more on strength. They use magnetic and Flak Rounds, so you definitely want to use shotguns with this faction. If your play style is up close and dirty, NC is your choice. The magnetic rounds make your bullets practically dance toward the NME vehicles. If you play Battlefield, these are the engineers. Their Galaxy is superior to the other factions respawners and transporters.

Weapons
Melee: MAG-Cutter
Basic Assault: MAG-Scatter
Medium Assault: Gauss Rifle
Heavy Assault: Jackhammer
Anti-Vehicle: Phoenix

MAX Variants
Anti-Infantry: Scatter Cannon
Anti-Vehicle: Falcon
Anti-Air: Sparrow

Vehicles
Heavy Assault Buggy: Enforcer
Medium Battle Tank: Vanguard
Medium Transport: Thunderer
Heavy Transport: Vindicator
Battle Frame Robotic: Peregrine

Strategies and Level Tips
planetside2.jpg

Unlike MMO's, this is a FPS at a Massive Scale with MMO traits. So you need to know about the strategies on the field, and use that knowledge to better your leveling to give yourself your own unique role on the battlefield. There are millions of ways to play the game, so Level up your character right or you will be hurting in the long run.

Decide what your role is going to be - There are going to be thousands of people by your side during every battle. So give yourself that unique role that turns a group of people into one well trained unit for victory, because every small role is vital in the success of every battle.

ex: I'm going to be VS, I was VS in the first planetside and I will be VS in this one. LONG LIVE VANU! I'm going to be an infiltrator, So my hacking and stealth is key. Only leveling up your hacking and stealth is what you need to do, and not level the side trees or side skills. Stick to what you want your role to be, this will leave you with a very valuable role. I'm the guy my clan needs to get inside. but who's going to do that?

My friend The Transporter. Someone who is leveling their Air Transportation vehicle all the way so we can drop people inside of a base from the air, right before he throws down his EMP unlock to temporarily turn off the force field around the base which will take one of the vehicles weapon slots, and then throw down a smoke grenade right after the force field is down, taking up is secondary weapon unlock. So My Transporters role is simply breaching a base and providing instant cover.

Imagine having an entire 12 person squad on the airship with me on it. All of us have on our INRV (night vision, Thermal Vision) goggles on. Fly over a peaceful base in the middle of the night, take down the force field for 5 seconds, throw down a smoke grenade for cover, paratroop down, and turn on our goggles and infiltrate, while I cloak my way to the command center. Beautiful.

You have to find your role, you have to find your crew, and you have to find your place in your faction for total victory.

Thanks for taking the time to read this. If anyone has any questions on PS2, let me know. I'm sure I will be able to answer almost anything that has been said or written about this game.

Remember, Certain people need certain types of training to do certain things. So you cant join a squadron of 50+ Reavers to zerg rush a base if you don't have the certain qualifications to ride along. This is going to leave command leaders walking around asking for people with certain certifications to tag along a long planned attack. Some attacks are planned for weeks, some even months. It's all about being active in a community (for example ours) and picking a date and a time when it will take place, and have everyone agree on it and execute it.

Collaborating is the most important tool in Planetside.

LONG LIVE VANU!

I really hope that if we start playing this game, we have our own forums for it. and someone is moderating the forums. Because if we had a planetside section with three sub forums for all the factions, and only people in the faction can access them, that would make it more fun for eGO than to have all of us on one faction. and passworded vent channels.

there could be more events within eGO.

I've been looking forward to this game, and still haven't gotten into the Beta. Between Tribes Ascend and this game, I'm hoping either one (or both) will become their own divisions, or at least become a big enough game with its own dedicated forum space. Already there are people scrimming or preparing to scrim for Tribes Ascend (if you can believe that).

I'm most likely to play Terran Republic; and I like your idea fudpex. It would be great if there was a forum admin that can grant access to subforums so only those that play in that group can access them. At the same time, I can see why people would initially prefer to have only one main group (until there's enough to support separate groups).
