Possible Event idea, need input.

What do you think?

Alright so here is the scenario. A team leader creates a team of 7 players. You pick whoever you want and designate it as your team. Your team will then be part of a 5v5 tournament, the first tournament for simplicity sake will take place on Kalt, the objective, to work with your team to get through the sewers and capture the enemy team's first flag. You will only be able to travel through sewers and there will be respawns. Whoever has the most caps at the end of the round will move on to the next round. You may choose whatever classes you want for your team.

Any input on this idea? Please vote in the poll, if this is successful this same idea could be implemented on other maps, but the goal is to help build team competition skills and strategy.

I like this idea, sounds like fun. I think the best way to decide on how to set the time/win limit would be to test it out one day and see how much time it would take to cap the last flag.

I am kind of in agreement, but based on teamwork skills it could be really fast or really slow.

Also FF will be on for game play.

Love the idea. I agree with Chuck. There needs to be a time limit, because rounds could take a very long time and with a time limit, it keeps things moving. And it would be good to get a feel for how long a round would be before you set a time limit in stone.

Looking forward to seeing this in action!

What would the tie breaker be? One last 5 v 5 push with no re-spawns? Last one alive wins?

Teams could not be set in advance. You would have to have an event and just split the people that were there. If you have teams picked prior to the event, when some do not show it will ruin your event.

Also, like I said before...you need Achievements for Ranger of the week for those that put in a solid effort. :) ...maybe a single bloody ear?

Thats why I had each team pick up 7 players per team in case people can't show up. All the matches would be set up in advance. So that everyone would have notice when they play. Also we could come up with a "Ringer group" to allow Ringers to help much like the last event ran. If your people can't all attend you play with what you have, and you suffer accordingly.

Love the idea, only wondering should mg's be ruled out? One overlooking the sewer entrance is really tough to beat, especially when playing on allies.

I really like this idea. I typically am not home early enough for events but if I'm around I'd participate. Time limit.

I like where this is going but something seems to be missing...I'm struggling to see how this is different from any other flag capture objective map? Seems to be the same concept albeit on a smaller scale, i.e. less players and limiting the action to one area of the map?

I wouldn't even call it a flag capturing objective map, because the only flag you cap is the one you do when you when. Its a progression challenge, where defense is not as predominant except in trying to keep the other team from advancing while you respawn. The team who works together and uses tactics and strategy will come out ahead. It really is no different but helps encourage teamwork while playing and not so much the run and gun style a lot of people play with.

I think that MG's are easy to beat, once you know how to do it. Plus once you know an MG's location its easy to call out to your team so you all don't run in and get wiped out, or if you do you can wait for your team mates to respawn and try another approach.

I like the idea, though I feel that it will be difficult to not get frustrated since there is only one way to get through, it will rely heavily on the skill level and in some cases luck, over say actual strategy.

Also, what rules would there be against setting up an mg on each tank facing the ladders of each first flag? etc.

Teams should be random or picked fairly IMO. Two reasons, first, it will be frustrating if the seven best players are on one team, and everyone should learn to play with everyone else, not just a select few.

So what if we did a sign up list and then I would randomly assign players to a team? I think you should have the same team mates so you can learn their styles and techniques, its very important.

That sounds better.

Still see that as a problem. Remember how Spank's tourney got messed up by people not showing up. Even realism has issues when people don't show for a team and we have 100+ sign up.

You might want to consider teams on the fly, it will allow more control and room for give and take on your end than adding an extra few on a team in case people do not show. Also, when you go 5v5 if you have 20 people there one day they will get bored and leave.

Consider making several variations of possible events for this, based off of numbers of participants. If you have 10 people around, a 5v5 kalt rush would work well. If you have 20, it would take forever so maybe do another event if that number of players show. Like I said I think you simply need options for yourself. it's not if people will not show creating a need to adjust, it's simply how long until it happens.

Ok I will leave this thread alone now, good ideas here, I just think you need to flush them out a little as people's schedules change and no one is ever able to make all of the events.
