What kind of music do you listen to?

Hey guys,

I have no doubt that this thread has been posted before, maybe even more than once. The reason why I'm reposting this topic is that I'm really, really into music. My dream is to become just like Hardwell ( world famous Progressive House/House Dj/producer). I've got my own mixing set and I'm doing decent, thanks to help from my friends. I'm planning on getting started with producing this summer holiday, so don't expect much of me on Counter Strike

Anyway, I'm drifting off the main reason why I posted this. I want to get to know you and hopefully there are House/Progressive House fanatics here at eGO. If you're a producer, and you're doing pretty well, we could share ideas and/or sets.

I hope this doesn't cause inconvience or aggrevations towards the readers since it's without a doubt a double post.

Have never heard of hardwell, but he's twitter certified so i guess he is famousish.

But as for me, My dream is to be a music producer as well, like Kanye West (Who as much as people troll me about him, I really do love this guy.)

He is an amazing producer, and besides him I'm influenced by No I.D., The Neptunes, Swizz Beats, Just Blaze, and others, but mainly those people.

I spend hours listening to all these types of music to find stuff to sample, sample it, add a good drum beat and stuff and I got myself a great beat.

Also, I use FL studio, as well as an electronic piano because thats soo much easier to use when i want to change the key of the notes, as well as a sampler. ( but I know i'd have to use an actual studio if i ever want to make cdq stuff.

I'm in the same boat. It seems like I always find 1 or 2 artists in a certain genre and really listen to them a lot. So it's a wide spectrum, but so specific.

Going through a metal phase right now, which is probably here to stay. LOVE classical and orchestral pieces. Went through a club phase a few years ago, but I can still listen to it. Classic Rock has always been with me and will never leave me.
Only music I don't like is things that took minimal effort to produce like dubstep and rap. I'm not saying that what they do isn't difficult, but when the entire music process can be reduced to one person and a computer, it's lost it's charm and stops being real music.

When I was younger I listened to mostly stuff that was on the radio, so hip-hop/pop. Then in 7th grade took a class on history of rock and became instantly hooked, eventually getting heavier and heavier. So now I listen to pretty much any heavy metal be it death metal, black metal, melodic metal and most hard rock (In Flames, Mesuggah, As I lay dying, Metallica, Megadeth, Rammstein etc). And by pure random I found Childish Gambino after trying to find stand up by Donald Glover. This led me to searching other stuff he was on, one of which being Regular show, who starred in an episode with Tyler the Creater of OFWGKTA, which led me to them and revived my listening to rap (but the weirder stuff thats not played on the radio). But I can not stand a lot of more popular pop artists (Lady Gaga, Coldplay especially, uhhhhh Bieber)

So yup, always looking for new metal seeing just how heavy it can get without just being noise

Haha I see, loads of (heavy) metal listeners here! I'm not into metal, it all sounds like noise. C.C. I understand your point, a lot of music is produced nowadays unless of course, you're talking about metal and classical/jazz music. It's probably harder to make music with instruments than producing house, dubstep, drum and bass, and everything else that requires a computer to produce. But that, in my opinion, doesn't effect my love for all those genres I just mentioned. I listen to music whenever I can. I even neglect school to practice my DJing, which I know isn't right. It's one of my passions, I'll probably go deaf by the age of.. 35 if I keep this up maybe earlier.

This is one of the biggest festival in Europe, it's ab-solute-ly amazing and I'm going this summer, 27th, 28th & 29th of July. Well, I first need to get my ticket but I'm pretty positive about it! Anyway, I need to get learning, I'm in my exam week!

I will be gaming with you full on this weekend. My final exams start in just over a month, so I'll get my gaming done before hand =)
