In the midst of checking the r/battlefield3, I noticed something that caught my eye: a thread about the advantages to hardcore. I figured it would at least be worth the read. However, the true meat was in the comments: I discovered a new, user-made game type.

Essentially, it's hardcore settings, but with ALL UI disabled (not sure to what point...you'd almost still need the cap point markers). Health starts at 40%. To me, it looked like a great idea for an event...nothing that would succeed on a server in the long run, but simply some of us eGO guys could play for some enhanced teamwork and immersion.

Would you be interested in trying it? Thoughts/comments?

So it would be like the paintball event but in conquest and you could re spawn, if so i would be up for that

Can't hurt to give it a shot... no pun intended.

Even without any flag info, make people go look at the flag up close :). The more immersion the better. If it isn't fun, we can just make PBJ the only zombie for a few rounds and go hunting.

4 people voted no, but gave no comment. Say why you vote for your option, or else nothing can be changed/improved.

I'm having enough issues firing half a clip into someone and they hit me twice and I drop, hardcore is bad enough, now someone invents ultra-core.....freakin sadist.....LOL

I've got 260-300 ping. That's enough of a disadvantage for me already. That's why i voted Hell Nope. =3

Not really for it. I think Hard Core is enough of a challenge already, to add something else to it would be too frustrating to play, I think. It's a neat idea, I just don't see it working out practically.

I regularly play in regular hardcore servers with the UI disabled anyway so yeah, of course I would.

sounds like a cheap project reality setup, without the added recoil from project reality to compensate

In a game where you can change your camo, how do you know who to open fire on without the triangle above their head.

Assaults and Recons on both sides pretty much look identical in Spec Ops camo, and it will be incredibly hard to tell who is who when all you can make out at 100 meters away is a dark figure. They might see you and shoot first causing you to panic and return fire only to find out that you were both on the same side.

In the end, I would like to try this and see how it turns out.

You watch your fire and make certain you identify you targets before you shoot. When I play without the UI I definitely play slower but usually still do okay. If you watch closely you'll see where I think I tk'd someone, but without the UI, I'll never know.

Sounds like our realism event to me. No HUD, no minimap, 40% health. The only things visible are team markers, point markers, and compass.

When we first made city maps, it was Hardcore, with no minimap... We ran with these settings for a month, with no success with the server. We ultimately discovered that because the server was not listed strictly as 'Hardcore' or 'Normal' or 'Inf only' pre-sets. Players would not find our server through the server search tools because ours was listed as 'Custom'. With no one searching for 'Custom' maps; only Normal or HC, this server will not easily be filled, or maintained by the community. My bet is we may revisit it down the road.

I'd honestly never want a 24/7 server like this, however for an event it seems like it could be fun.

I agree with PBJ while it is fun at times it gets so boring playing with no HUD like it is cool sometimes but it would be one of the servers that i would never join even to fill

Sounds like a good time. I hate when you unload half a clip into someone and they turn around and kill you in 1 or 2 shots...what a load of crap that is. First to make contact should almost always kill.
