I need some help

I recently just update my Dell E510 bought 2 years ago so this is the current spec

Intel D 940 @ 3.2 ghz
4 Gb DDR2 533 Mhz
250 Gb Seagate and 500 Gb Maxtor SATA drives
8800 GT 512 Mb
PSU 500 W

When I check the temperature, the core temperature runs up to 62 degee while idle. Is it too high? and is there anyway I can reduce it?

Sounds a little high, not to sure if it is unsafe for your computer though. Well you can buy a different CPU fan for starters, I would think a 3.2ghz processor would run hot, maybe add fans to your case as well.

Pentium D's usually run very hot.

You running stock cooling? have you cleaned any dust out of your pc?

I just cleaned out the stock fan and heat sink last weekend, also put on Artic Silver 5 paste on the CPU.
I attempted to change CPU fan but since the motherboard is properiatery, standard fan wouldn't fit on it. (The stock fan is a 120 mm and run very slow)
Currently, I have a 80 mm case fan and additional fan right below 8800 GT.
While my harddrive tempterature ranges from 45-52, the case temperature ranges from 48-53. The core temperature is the only one above 60.

If you cant change the fan i would atleast spend a couple dollars on some arctic silver 7 thermal compound and put that on.

Yea thats hot for the card. but yea if you can run some more fans in there somehow. if not new case? maybe a coolermaster?

I already put on Arctic Silver 5 on the CPU 2 days ago. I don't think I can put additional fan on the case since I already put 80 mm fan and a video card fan. I thought of getting new case too, but the mother might not fit on it...

A larger case will help, I saw a very nice $130 case with 8 120mm fans on NewEgg the other day, but that's a bit overkill. I'd suggest either A) Get a new processor (Pentuim D's are quite old, plus it's holding your system back) or B) Get a new case, more fans or cover your machine with ice. Your choice.

and the side you can replace the air vent with an 80.

dell uses propriatary mobos so if your mobo is right of the comp (not like every other on the lef) if you are looking from it from the back, then most cases (unless from dell) can not fit it in correctly or at all. Dell tends to do this so you have to upgrade with them and them alone (all about the $$$)

Yeah, I realize it when I bought home a regular CPU fan + Heatsink from CoolerMader.... The pins couldn't reach the slots since it's too far apart. I was able to upgrade PSU from 305 --> 500 W since the PSU is not proprietary.
