Booting problems

So I took the guts out of my tower and put them in a new tower. It turns on and everything, but here's the problem; It starts up and goes to the motherboard splash screen (normal it shows this screen the just boots into windows like a good little computer should.) I have to go into the boot menu and select my hard drive. (Not a big deal) Once I select the drive it ask Windows or Ubuntu (normal on boot up) when I pick windows it starts booting, it does the little Windows loading screen then it just freezes and doesn't move anymore.

I have already reseated everything and made sure its all plugged in correct. Im not sure if perhaps durning the move from one case to the other I may have hurt something in a way the would stop it from booting.

If you have any idea as to what my be causing this please let me know.

I encountered the same problem at work. There were three explanations for the cause:
1) The hard drive isn't connect fully/properly. Ex. The SATA cables are loose after you close it up, even though when you open it and attach it, it might slip loose somehow (or get tugged accidentally).
2) Hard drive isn't getting enough power. Simple fix: Get a higher PSU or remove the excess you don't need.
3) Hard drive is now showing its age and is beginning to show errors. and connectivity issues. Way to test this (that are redundant): Try installing windows into a new HDD and see if the same issues present itself; or plug it into a 2nd PC (if you got one available).
 
Thank you Snipeye! I unplugged the two CD drives from the power supply and it started up like normal with out a glitch. I was going to say, well if it worked with the two CD drive before, why not now... Then I remembered one of them was in fact already unplugged in my last tower.
 
Awesome! So you just need to get a bigger PSU to run all that hardware. In the meantime, looks like you got your fix. Safe to close this thread?
