I noticed that a lot of people don't play BF3 in a true squad formation. I also have noticed that when I force teamwork by following people around and supporting their every move (except the really, really dumb ones) that things seem to go a lot better. This is a little frustrating for me, because since my old INF and milsim backgrounds, my squad is how I breathe on the battlefield. That said, I wanted to throw this out for anyone who ever finds me in game and wants to play the game seriously.
-If you're in my squad, I'm going to spawn on you if you give me the option. I will also follow you unless you're running around like an idiot. Sometimes even then. If I'm anything other than Recon, I will do everything I can to support you.
-If you spawn on me, take a moment to look around if I'm not moving. If I'm deployed (bipod), I'm covering a position. I'll continue to watch that spot until it's either not safe to linger or until it's safe to move up. Use this to your advantage.
-Similarly to above, I may find myself alone and covering a sector until I have a team to push. If you see me holding a spot, I'll continue to hold it until someone on the team can push it up. I'll bunker every choke or sector I can until we've pressed it and prevent pushback from the other team. If I'm on the move, feel free to move with me.
-If you communicate something that needs done t me, I'll do it. Even if it's a bad idea. I don't call myself the "designated idiot" for nothing. Just please, have a good reason before you send me out
-If I'm not on vent, you can usually ask and I'll join. If I am on vent, feel free to join my channel. I'm used to milsim games like air soft and paintball and will be very verbose when it comes to spotting and giving directions when applicable. Similarly, I'll be listening for similar things from you.
-If you want me to lead, I'll lead. Specifically, on vent, I can direct a whole squad that's moving and working together on the fly. Again with the milsim reference, I was team and/or squad leader for many years, it's all natural to me at this point. I won't let you down.
-I don't do vehicles very often. That said, I don't mind doing them. Just be aware that vehicles are not my strong point. I'll repair, assist gun, or even drive for you if you want, just know that I make no promises here

Will provide you further guidance tonight if your on vent in regards to your role. As I had said earlier on vent, get to know everyone in the team and squad and see how we run things, and if you feel comfortable and the team gels, will find a squad for you to show off your leadership skills soon as well
