Diablo 3 Open Beta Weekend

Too bad I couldnt get in on this. Eh oh well, I can wait til the actual game goes down in price (which of course may have to wait til x-mas).

Starting bets that Sexy will have a max Character before June 1st. Anyone?

Is it me, or was the mana regeneration so damn fast that it seemed to completely ruin the game by making it insanely easy? That was the main thing I noticed in the beta.

That, and the weird cartoony graphics.

No but i'll have a max level Decked out barbie before June 1st

Either that or i'll have a Maxed out MF-solo demon hunter since blizzard decided to share MY mf among pugs who don't have mf gear.... <--- obviously a stupid idea.

Nope, i didn't notice that. The wizard seemed pretty weak compared to the other classes for me anyway.

About the cartoony graphics.

BASHIOK:
We're not particularly interested in pushing graphical limits with Blizzard games. Our intent is always to provide a timeless stylized aesthetic, while allowing for a broad range of machines to view the game with similar results. The art style for Diablo III is specifically intended to appear as a moving painting, which in general avoids very crisp textures or hard lines.

More importantly though we specifically separate background from foreground by using by using a visually unobtrusive canvas and sharper and more saturated enemies and spell effects in the foreground to elevate the gameplay. We actually specifically call it the 'canvas' because the foreground and midground elements and action are painted on top. With the screen full of enemies, spell effects, minions, and players you don't want a busy background, because it actually detracts from the ability to quickly and easily make important skilled choices during combat. Being able to quickly and effortlessly read what's going on is more important than almost everything else, because if you can't do that then the depth of a combat system is being thwarted by the visual bells and whistles.

It's more important for us to serve the gameplay as well as design a timeless game. "Realism" in games is really only as real as the next version of DirectX or video card product cycle. By approaching with a stylized and painterly approach, we intend for Diablo III to be playable and visually appealing for as long as possible.

I've been in beta sinse febuary; it gets old fast, but it really is just 1/3 of act 1 on normal, the mana regen is pretty fast, but i also think thats because we are so low level and have so little, once you get higher with much, much higher amounts of whatever type of mana you use, i have a feeling it will slow down but i will not complain if it doesnt.. "Not Enough Mana" is about the most anoying thing about diablo 2 ^_^

Demon hunter with a +hatred per hit hand bow, yes please, get enough of that and you can perma multy shot..

Any chance eGO is moving into D3 when it launches? seems to be enough ppl for it...

I will be playing it daily, but I will stay a battlefield member.

Why?

Well I thought according to the site it was only open & available just for the weekend, but according to all this, seems like theyre extending it for more folks. Really didnt expect that. When they say weekend, I would think that they would keep to what they say, but hey im def happy that its still goin.

I don't really mind not having realistic graphics, but I'd rather it be 2D like Diablo II than have WoW-style-but-darker graphics.

I like the graphics upgrade to a 3d based engine, however i can agree that it is a bit 'wow like' but i think people compair that because its from the same maker, if it was from ubisoft or some other company, i dont think it wouldnt have as high of a compairson rate to WOW. (granted the GAME PLAY is not much like wow to me, but the menu's and the char screens scream wow)
