I am interested in hearing how everyone came to use the names they currently use in the games they play. As for myself I have gone through 3 different names in my gaming career.

The first name I used was Snake for NES and early console games. I used this name after Escape from New York and Escape from L.A. movies. I was a big Snake Blisken fan when I was young. The next name I used was Maverick which was used during my CS days. My friend used the name Iceman and we would be top 2 in all tournaments that we played CS v1.3. Finally I ended up using Tumblin starting with Diablo II and all games after that. Tumblin was given to me in middle school when I fell down a hill during recess in front of my entire class. The nickname Tumblin Tom was given to me and it stuck. :)

Ive had many names too but I think this name might stick for a long time it means An event causing great and often sudden damage or distress; a disaster.

Was tired of my old names and decided to create a new one all I did was originally combine the words Pulse with Mic and I got Pulsemic. Then I switched to Pulse cause it was easier for people to say.

it used to be my brothers gaming name.. he got from a russian raper or something.

now i can give you the short version, or the long version. im really lazy so you dont get a choice and im giving the short version

From a similar thread:
The dragon's breath was the hottest thing I had ever felt. Sweat poured off of my body and vaporized before it had time to hit the ground. A living desiccant. Once. twice, thrice I swung the bastard sword. To my horror instead of cleaving the iron hard scales on the third stroke it broke. Shattered into four pieces.

The dragon laughed and I ran. It followed leisurely.

"Come back small mortal" it hissed.

Up the cavern passage I ran, slipping on the guano and cursing my luck. There, behind the crystal wall my last chance. I took the broken hilt and scribed a line in the surface, then another. With all my strength I struck the crystal with the pommel of my erstwhile sword and ran on.

The dragons laughter hid the rumble. The crystal spalled and ruptured and tons of water poured fourth from the glacial pool the crystal had restrained and quenched the dragons fire and then his life.

I freed the maiden from the pillar of iron and demanded drink. She took me back to the inn and there I drank. Dark smooth and cool. Stein followed stein. I quaffed all that they had.

Then I kissed her sweet lips.

The innkeeper was so impressed. Never had he known such a quaffer.

Mine came from a joke amongst friends.

We talked about funny name occurrences we experienced while playing multiplayer and I suggested that it'd be pretty darn funny if a message popped up saying "AnotherAsian has killed You"

Also, there are hundreds of Asian gamers out there and I'm another one of them :)

It just came to me. I liked it and nobody else on the internet seemed to be using it at the time. I've gone out of my way to use it as my account name everywhere possible so others can easily find me.

Unfortunately, last time I did a search, I came across somebody who was using it on a poker site. I just hope nobody confuses me with them because their statistics said they lost thousands of dollars, lol.

Everyone of my friends call me Mush because they can't pronounce my real name so thats how my IGN is Mush

I remember it came from the second online game i played named Ragnarok Online (most of you might not know what it is). In year 2003 when my classmate invite me to play it and i don't know if it's coincidence or intended two of them were using Z as their initial for the user ID. I decided to use Z as my user ID initial too and *poof* Ziant is what i came up.
Since then, i began using Ziant as my user ID on every game whether it's online or offline.

what an adventure..

I told this story before but in short my name came from Guild wars Because i used a monk there

You Dig? came from a friend of mine who played CS 1.6 about 6 or 7 years ago and stopped playing, so I picked up the reigns from there!

When I played old CS-1.6 my name was m3rkd. - it means to own or trash talk or was once told "Total and undeniable beatdown of a person by means of trashtalk." hahaha

and then my old Day of Defeat name when beta, WON and the 1.3 versions were in their prime was ShOrTy

All the names i used in game were almost always music related.
Whitin ego i started out using the name "hardstyle4life" named after the popular hardstyle music scene, in the meanwhile i got older a bit and i started to listen less and less to "hardstyle" nowadays i am very into drum'n bass which is pritty hot in Europe. And i changed my name to one off my favorite dj's who's belgian (like i am by the way) called "Netsky".
In Some games i use similar names to the ones above.

my friend were using abstract names so i thought of Dr3am because no one were using it
