Any US Navy service members out there?

Well, my dad was in the navy and he currently knows an admiral that he was best buds with when he served.

I was thinking about joining a branch of the military after high school, and his advice to me was go to get a degree relevant to what I planned on doing. Then become an officer, but I guess it's a lot different than what you plan on doing xD

Yeah, it is :p
I'm going to start as enlisted to become more of a Nuclear Operator, and my friend in the Navy said that after a few years I should go become an officer to become a Nuclear Engineer, and make some bucks.

Cool Hurley I was a Machinist Mate on a Guided Missile Destroyer, stationed at Pearl Harbor for three years. I went to the MM "A" school up in Great Lakes this was back in 77' I just loved the sea and really miss it. had a guy that came on board that had gotten kicked out of the Nukes, after a car wreak they had found some contraband(pot) in his car real bummer for his dad who wanted him to be a Base ball player but accepted his choice of career. His name was Jim Bunning Jr. and his dad pitched for the Philadelphia Phillies back in the 70's. I wanted to try subs once lol I walked on and said hell no and went back to the tin can lol. good luck to you and just make the best of any Rate you make.

If you become an officer they pay for your college to be a nuke

So youd get more money free college and you wouldn't have to go through being enlisted :P

Thanks, because for me subs seem like a great oppurtunity.
Great food :p and not many people can say, "When I was 20 years old, I drove a submarine and had control of nuclear weapons"
