Both suck.
More about spraying and hoping for the random headshots that are so common with the two guns. Can't hit crap with either if the other guy is 50 feet away..
Support > Assault.

I'd say they're about equal, although I see more people using the Thompson.. where as the MP40 isn't used that much. Probably depends on the person with the gun, but I'm pretty much equal with them.

I find I can make a lot more random headshots with the thompson than te MP40, but I seldomly use the MP40. If I'm axis, I'm most likely support.

I have bursted with the thompson at long range before. Was shooting on AVA map from Axis Second Flag to top of Axis Archway. It was not a headshot either.

I like the accuracy of the '40 much much better than thompson...rate of fire is slightly lower, but i like shooting it in bursts and killing people from really far away

The only difference between the two guns is the model and the sound it makes when its fired. Thats not an opinion, thats cold hard game-coded fact. The CoF, RoF, and Damage are all the same. The game was made with extreme parity in mind (unlike dod classic) the support guns, sniper rifles, assault guns, and rocket launchers are absolutely the same except for model and sound.

Mp40 for sure. I get way more head shots with it
to me its kinda like this
Mp40 weaker slower but more accurate
Thompson - Stronger a bit faster, but bad accuracy.

actually waht amazes me is how when i play axis and i pick up a american weopon i do much better, same thing goes with allies ^_^

Thompson Less Acurate at longer ranges
Rapid Fire Less Damage
MP40 More Acurate at longer ranges
Slower rate of Fire More Damage

I think Mp40 is more about medium to short range combat and Thompson is mostly for charghing in quick attacks at close range.
