Sorry I have been MIA with no explanation, well here it is.

I am not feeling the new suppression changes. 1 shot completely throws you into the depths of suppression and knocks the accuracy of weapons so very low it makes me want to cry. Even with the reduced suppression perk I don't like the first to shoot has a ridiculous advantage state that the game is currently in.

I can get used to the attachment changes, but the suppression effect ruins the game for me personally.

That and TERA came out, so I am spending a lot of time in TERA as well as Super Monday Night Combat.

If they fix the suppression I will be around more often. Until that time I will see you all when I see you and good luck and have fun.

See ya around,

Dino

So... you aren't happy with a realistic combat mechanic. I'm sorry to hear that.

If you want advice on how to make the game more enjoyable, read on. If not, I'm sorry you've been gone even though I don't know you, but you can ignore the rest of this post:

The sound alone of a bullet whizzing by your head (seriously, don't ask how I know this) is motherFing terrifying. Knowing that it's being fired at you does not help this situation. Needn't say more, I hope. I picked up BF3 (or rather, got a computer that could run it once I had bought it) after suppression was implemented and honestly thought it was one of the most fantastic mechanics ever because it does do a fairly good job of instilling the fear of god in you when you're taking fire.
Being the adamant stickler for realism in FPS's I am, I love that you can use it to your own advantage and if you're like me and also loathe being suppressed, you need to adjust your movement pacing and fix your positioning. You can't Halo it like in CoD. Either put those bullets down range in a team fight so that it makes your teammates more likely to get a kill if you don't, and actually utilize cover that'll make suppression the only thing that affects you, rather than a bullet to body. Honestly, with all games, there's a learning curve and this is just part of it. They are probably not going to ever "fix it," so you might consider working on dealing with it like the rest of us so we can enjoy your presence once again (once you're done with TERA, of course).

Anyway, BF3 is a harsh mistress and it'd be sad to lose you over something as easy to conquer as suppression. :(

Agreed.

I will agree with Koshachey and you that the new suppression is tough to deal with, but I like it. Because the cool thing about it? It goes both ways. Getting suppressed? Sit behind a wall for a sec and wait for it to go away, then go back and do the same thing to them. Because guess what? Now they can't hit or see anything.

I know I took a break from BF3 for a bit to play SW:TOR and when I came back I was surprised at the change they made to suppression. But I got used to it and now I've learned to use it to my advantage rather than making it break the game for me.

And to add to what Kosh said about bullets flying over your head being scary, at basic training you have the live fire NIC (night infiltration course) where you have to high crawl (prone crawling) about 100 meters while they shoot M240's above your head. Even though they are shooting about 15 feet above you, your heart is still racing about a mile a minute. It's hard to focus on much else but the sound of the rounds whizzing above your head and getting the hell to the end of the course.

I can understand where you're coming from, but if it's breaking the game for you, perhaps you're style is more CoD-type where it's run and gun and whoever pulls the trigger first wins.

I like suppression at times however other times it is a real pain in the ass I think it would be cool if they made a default option for all HC servers to use the current suppression and all normal servers to use a toned down version because right now players who don't want it DONT WANT IT and there is no agreement that will change their views they bought bf3 on the basis of a war game NOT a realistic war game if they wanted that they could have bought Arma 2 or some other realistic game however people who want that bf3 reality should still have the suppression mechanic system working like I think they should offer servers an option for HC servers (that dont make them a custom game) that offers it to be good or heavy suppression

Sad to see you go (even if it is temporary) =(. I had a lot of trouble when the patch first came out (before: KD per game usually was around 1.7+, after: 0.5-ish). However, I played through it, and now it only bothers me as much as it did before. Just takes some getting used to and some playing through rage.

However, I agree with the others that the suppression element adds a sense of realism that makes BF just that much more dynamic. I think it is fun (as I spend about 2/3 of my time as support) and can be another advantage/disadvantage on the battlefield.

Regardless, hope to see you around! and if not, have fun in TERA/SMNC!

Thank you for sharing that, P2F, I wish my experience was as positive as that. I salute you for wanting to serve :)

Also, I agree with Axeman, a non-HC toned down suppression option would be fantastic. Maybe you could petition EA for it?

Then us hardcores can have our fun and the rest of you don't have to suffer :D

I agree that the suppression can get a little crazy sometimes, but honestly like others have said, that's what makes BF stand out so much. It doesn't minimize the feel of danger. It takes some getting use to, but think of how much better you'll be in other games that don't have it?

That said, I also play support and love my suppression assists. :)

I group the suppression effect into the graphical-effects-that-I-solemnly-hate vault along with the murderous Dr. Bloom, the infamous duo of Mr. Lens and Ms. Flare, the docile but nevertheless menacing Mr. Useless HUD features, and who could forget the utmost deplorable soul in the world and that is ex scientist Dr. Blood Splat!

Is it sad when I came back recently that I really didn't notice a huge difference? Maybe that is because I play support and do more of the suppressing then getting suppressed. Maybe its the fact that as soon as I get suppressed I fond cover or shoot back. I don't see it as a bad change personally either.

Regardless I wish you the best in your ventures but think you should come back to us. Good Marine saying applies here. "Adapt and overcome"

Bloom, HUD features and blood splat don't get me killed near as much as the damn lens flare lol. And the sun on Sharqi Peninsula gets me sniped from the top of the TV station more than I care to admit, since you can't see the top of it from the ground, but you can sure as hell see the ground from the top haha

Yay real world tactics kicking us in the ass in a game!

Suppression should increase spread, not decrease accuracy of a single shot. Other than that, I have no complaints with it, and I can tolerate it's current form just fine.
