So I'm finally getting around to playing kingdom hearts but don't have a PSP 3000 to play birth by sleep and of course it'll cost like $150 for a PSP which is just outrageous for me to pay to play one game. You guys know any good emulators out there that don't need a PSP or a actual copy of the game to play? I've already 'acquired' an english patched ISO from the japanese version but can't find a decent emulator out there. I tried JCPSP or whatever it's called but those guys have some serious elitist complex and they refuse to let anyone without a PSP and the ISO ripped from a legit copy of the game use their emulator. Are there any alternatives out there?

It actually does, BBS:Final mix is like 40-60 and I would so pay that much for it but again - it's an exclusive for a dead console that I and apparently a whole lot of other people didn't buy and that costs nearly as much as the newer PSPs.
emulators are technically not illegal.
and have an emulated copy of a game you own is also legal and technically you have a right to have a copy of it for your own personal use (just most people don't exacly have the knowledge or the equipment to rip and decrypt say a gameboy file)

You are correct in that, but it has been established that this is not the case in this instance.
I'm not saying our friend should give up his search. I'm saying that we're a trademarked organization and if a company found evidence of members of the clan supporting the acquiring and use of illegally obtained ISO files, well he could have a field day with it. That would be a nightmare in court and it's something we really don't want to have to deal with, trust me.
Anything else I would say with this all in mind, is that if there is someone out there that would even have knowledge in this area they would want to contact our searching buddy in a way that is not viewable to the public eye, if you know what I mean.
*Looks around nervously and says loudly*

thats true, since the psp is a fairly new thing "console" they wouldnt take kindly to downloading games you don't own, but it seems they really don't care about old things such as gameboy, nes, ps1, n64 and such as they can no longer make money on it

Unfortunetly most PSP emulators suck. The only people that have access to good ones are the software developers. So unless you want to contact sony and convince them that you are going to make a game, your kinda hooped.
However with the vita out now, all of the original psp's are down. I know I got my 3000 for 150$used. You could get a 2000 or 1000 for even less. (They are about 63$(CDN) used on ebay right now.)
And I would suggest buying one cause there are some awesome hidden gems in the PSP world. Most of the games are really cheap now, so you should have no trouble finding atleast one other game to play.

He's right, there are some great games on the PSP. I don't remember if you said money was the issue, or if you said you couldn't justify buying one for just one game. Hope this helps.

Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lion
Final Fantasy Dissidia (or Duodecim-whatever the sequel is called)
Twisted Metal Head On (essentially a remake of 2)
Anniversary editions of Final Fantasy I and II
Monster Hunter series (if you can stand the uncomfortable claw, on a side note I've actually imported Monster Hunter Portable 3rd!)
Ok so my list is very Final Fantasy biased but what I'm trying to point out is that for me a purchase of it was very justified. I'm sure anyone else with a PSP will chime in with other great games on it.
