Do not choose melee: you will hate inferno

I really regret choosing monk. The same situation exists for barbarians. Ranged classes are way advantaged right now. Many wizards have soloed diablo in 7-8 mins, while there have only been 3 barbarians (one was heavily fed equipment by wizards) who have been able to solo diablo. No monks have been able to solo diablo.

In order to even be able to play act 2 without getting one hitted as a monk, you need 60-70k hp and 600+ resist. Even then, it's still hit and run.

Hmm..

If you want tips (once you get 60/inferno), work on the following things in this order:
  1. HP First (40k)
  2. Focus on one resist/all resist and use one with everything (200+)
  3. Focus on dps
  4. Start swapping your one resist equipment with all resist equipment (so you can switch out one with everything passive with something else) (get to 900+ resist)
  5. Increase EVERYTHING!

Act 3 inferno is actually easier than act 2.

I don't think I'll have that problem. This game is already starting to lose my interest,& I'm only at level 38 on nightmare mode as a Barbarian. For as big of a game that this is it sure doesn't have a lot of content which to me=boring...Only 4 acts that are actually pretty short, a horrible story,& impossibly unfair mobs.I guess this just isn't my type of game.I really regret buying it now :facewall:

not much content? I managed to spend just over 40 hours completing the game on normal difficulty alone. I would not call that "not a lot of content". If you don't enjoy the game that's well and good but saying there is little content I must take issue with.

agreed with blue, saying there is no content is straight preposterous. Anyways, im at 46 on the barb in nm act 3 right now, will heed this advice, thanks glock.

I agree that it is rough for melee in inferno. It really is. HOWEVER, I believe that it is doable, you just need to learn how to fight the elites. Inferno was designed to be different, and very very hard. It's almost a completely different game. Having said that, you need to learn to fight in Inferno. You can NOT stand toe-to-toe with elite packs in inferno, you will die. Every time. It doesn't matter what your gear is, once you get out of act 1 in inferno they will 1-shot you. I posted a thread giving some tips on Inferno. One of the big things is you need to learn to play very defensively. I know many people made monks and barbs because they like to just run in and tear shiz up. Well that's all good and great, but that is a horrible tactic for inferno, at least until you get incredible gear.

I do admit that I think wizard is a little bit OP. They are the only class that can kite, dps, and survive all at the same time. I wish they made the other classes a little more feasible, but right now they aren't. I suspect it will get patched within the next little while or people are going to start getting pissed that their class can't do very much in inferno.

Just my two cents =P

I started to worry about this. I rolled Barbarian because i've always been a fan of the warrior type class, but i'm starting to get discouraged. I've not yet done Inferno but from the videos i've watched a lot of barbarians have to just run away from mobs while using their ranged throw weapon ability. I'd really like to re-roll Wizard to avoid this, but I can't convince myself to completely restart -_-

No there's plenty of content for a $30 game I just don't think there's enough for a $60 game. It has very little replay value IMO. Of course I've been playing solo,so coop might be different. I just don't see the point in the whole game, level to max & find worthless loot...Where's the fun in that?

That mindset makes me think you're not a big fan of RPGs since that's the entire point of games. OF course, RPGs in coop is more fun (tabletop or online).

No way I love rpg's. I've been playing rpg's ever since Dragon Warrior came out on the nes.I think I was just spoiled by Skyrim,I have over 200 hours on that game alone,& I still find stuff to do in it.I guess that's what I was comparing D3 with when I said it had a lack of content(which is kind of unfair).I'm still having fun playing D3,don't get me wrong...It just seems like it's missing something for as much hype as it got before release. Hopefully they get all the hacking straightened out so I can try out an public game, maybe that will make a difference.

Most wizards I play with suck and die a lot more then I do in hell and I'm a barb

At the higher levels, their dps scales a lot higher/faster than barbs/monks. There have been wizards that have beat diablo in inferno with just blue equipment.

The problem is that although melee in diablo 3 has a 30% melee damage reduction, melee takes 100% of the damage since good ranged players will just hit and run. What really sucks is that for melee characters in inferno, we're forced to switch out for going for dps and turning ourselves into tanks just to survive one hit, while ranged characters are hitting 20k+ dps easy. A wizard with maybe 1mil worth of ah equipment vs a barb or monk with 5-10mil of ah equipment still favors the wizard and that is what makes this unfair.

Additionally, ranged classes regenerate spirit over time, while melee have to make hits in order to generate a pitiful amount of spirit.

playing with 3 other people is WAY better than solo. But stay away from public games, apparently people are getting hacked from joining public games, because of bots. Don't know how true that is but you cant be too careful.
