It would be cool to have the m82a1 or the m107a1.

To balance it in-game is to make this gun an equipment rather than an actual weapon you can choose. And also it can be only used when it is deployed. When deployed you should be able to zoom in and out of the scope and adjust the range too. The sniper should be equipped with a day/night optic just like the one in medal of honor.

i think they are bringing new guns with the CQ patch. im not 100% sure if they have already announced them or not. but we will see! i think it would be cool to bring in the 50cal aswell

I assume sniper rifles are not what they're adding in the CQB patch.

If a real man were hit with a .50 cal, his arms would blow off, if hit in his torso, there would be a hole the size of 2 fists, if hit in his legs, they will either be blown off or must be amputated and I believe for anyone in Battlefield to harness that kind of power is un called for :/

They'd have to be teaming up with the CoD devs if they were planning on adding a 50 cal to a close quarters package. Only CoD would try to pull that crap. Can you say "360 spin quick scope"?

you dont need to quick scope in bf3 with snipers just learn to point your laser dot works like a charm :P

Well, technically any rifle using the .50 is designated for Anti-material uses only. Unfortunately, equipment falls under 'Material.' So the obvious way to get around that designation is to shoot through equipment, that being headgear, guns, mags, etc.

I still don't get why kids who play CoD have it in their minds that they can run around and '360 no-scope' and bunny hop with a rifle pushing 35-40lbs.

http://bf3blog.com/battlefield-3-close-quarters/ this lists all the new weapons from CQ, and of the 2 snipers, neither are .50 cal.

I would guess they might add one in the armored kill or endgame dlc, like Psycho said about .50 cal being anti-material, it would be useful against an armored vehicle.

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't you need the 50 in bc2 to punch though the armored glass on choppers and such? As not all the snipers or other guns rounds could get though it? I kind of liked that aspect if you will. Any old hand gun can shoot someone out of a chopper in bf3 I've done it.

Well it did do damage to any surface of a helicopter if I recall but every sniper could shoot through the windshield of a chopper. But the damage to a chopper was so minimal that it really was quite useless against vehicles... The only real reason for a sniper to shoot at a chopper is to snipe the pilot which is pretty damn hard.
