How do I become good at this game.

Alright, so, I want to know how to be good. Like as good as spark, or whoever else is really good at this game. I want to join a server and get to the top of leaderboards in like, 10 minutes. I want to actually kill people. Get better with the guns. How do i accomplish this?

Well, to be as good as spark, you have to use a multitude of programs to make you better and massively bait your teammates when you do play.

If you don't know what baiting is in regular cs servers, it's when you sit back and wait for your team to kill some of the enemy team, then you finish off the rest.

Lol i suck alot but became good after lots of practice. my tips that i do is to make your "aim dot" very small which can be edited in the settings. Choose the color you can see beter/aim with. How i get head shots is image your targets head. Were do you think it will be? just simply aim were you think it will be, side step the corner of the wall and BOOM head-shot. For AK-47 aim lower and one bullet per shot. M4 2 to 3 per shot for long range, for short range (for any gun) spray and pray. My friend told me this and helps but the real trick to this? play and play until you get better just like a sport; keep practice until you ROCK remember there are dudes that have been playing this since the first game came out.

Try not to get frustrated, because in my experiences, that makes you worse. Stay calm, play a lot, and learn from your mistakes. Spec other players after you die and watch what they do and how they do it. This game has been around for several years, and a lot of us have been playing it for the duration. You aren't good overnight, it takes time and patients. Just stick with it and have fun, and you'll see improvement.

I can agree with some of this.. but if you want to get good you need to scrim or get esea. Do that for a few months and you'll be a lot better.

nah, jk, just learn the spread patterns of the guns at short and long distance; don't spray unless you're 2cms in front of the enemy, and like all said, PRACTICE is everything, oh, also never run and shoot, unless you're in the open and WATCH THE FLASHES AND NADES

It isn't about your gear or anything like that.

Let me tell you, back in my days(Oh great, another old-timer story..) when I used to CS:S competitively in tournaments for cash, I didn't have anything fancy.

A damn keyboard, a mouse, a tower, the Internet, and a pair of speakers.
Buying yourself a 50 dollar glow in the dark keyboard, a 40 dollar mouse, a 400 dollar monitor, and a 90 dollar headset won't do anything for you unless you apply yourself.

What I did to get good was play 30 rounds with bots on easy, play 20 rounds with bots on medium, playing 10 rounds on hard with bots, and finish it off live in some server. I did this once a day and after 2 months, I noticed myself improving.

Remember, you will never be as good as "that guy" right off the bat, it takes practice and dedication, like every other skill does.

Practice... Actually, you do not need to practice at all! All you need to do is play the game a lot and ENJOY it. As time passes by, you will be good in no time. I am good. (SHUSH) I'm not a tryhard. I just enjoy the game. Good luck pwning.

Best thing you can do is find what works best for YOU, not what works for others.
Here's a good guide

Step 1:
Join all of eGO's servers, play on them for a bit of time, and find which one you like best. Then stick with that server for a while so you learn the map well. No matter how good you are shooting, you need to be tactical, and know the map very well.

Step 2:
Play with ALL of the guns. Find which gun you like best. I've seen players get 70 kills with a M2 shotgun, and 3 with an AK47. Each gun will reflect a certain style. Guns like the Galil and P90 work great for close range "run and gun" people. I personally am a more "hold the trigger until they die" person, so a gun like the AK47 isn't for me, because it will just end up spraying all over. But a gun like the P90 has a tight spray pattern.

Step 3:
Learn your gun. Learn its spray patterns, its recoil, the time it takes to pull it out and start shooting, and how fast you run with it compared to holding a knife (because if you didn't know, you run slower with almost every gun than you do with a knife, and speed is sometimes helpful) Also learn reload times, and how many shots it takes to kill. Learn where to aim, and learn where not to aim. Because not every gun works with the "point at head and get headshot" method. I can get a para headshot aiming down at someones knees, but that's not the same as getting one with an AK47. A good way to practice with your gun is against bots on easy.

Step 4:
Setup your crosshairs. If you took the time to learn your gun properly, you wont need your crosshairs constantly expanding/contracting to tell you your spray pattern. Most "pros" that I have talked to get rid of the crosshair movement, and make the crosshairs as small as you can. I personally have mine set as a medium sized yellow dot, no crosshair lines, just a dot. Someone recommended me that, and the moment I changed my crosshairs, my score drastically got better. So you'd be surprised at the powers of the crosshairs

Step 5:
Be a team player, and don't be stupid. It may seem funny to go rambo running through a smoke gernade into a mob of 5 alone, but it's no way to get a good score. If your whole team is going one way, don't go the other way. If you stick together, you'll be less of a target, because there will be more of you for the opponent to aim at. But if you go solo, you'll have multiple guns aimed at your heads. Stay smart.

Step 6:
Spec the others. Truth is, your going to die a lot trying to get good. But in between rounds, spec the others. Look at who's at the top of the leader boards, and watch what he/she does. It may not be best to copy them exactly, but pull bits and pieces from everyone. There are commonalities you'll notice between the good players. And it never hurts to steam chat them and ask for a few pointers.

Step 7:
Get out there, play, and have fun. Bad moods=Bad scores. Joke around on mic in between rounds, dont play tired, laugh at your mistakes, and learn from them. If your mood is good, others follow, and when everyone on your team gets upbeat, they help you out, and make your kills easier.

Good tips, except for part of #3. All pistols are the same speed as the knife. So never run with your knife, it is more wise for a pistol to be out every time you are running, because you will never know if someone is going to be around the corner.

I cannot tell you how true #7 is. If you get on the server with a bad mood, most likely you will leave with a worse mood. See, if you get on the server all mad, and you keep dying, you will probably end up doing something stupid and getting yourself banned. I cannot tell you how many ban contests I have seen that have been related to this.

It's all really about practice. The more time to spend playing the better you will get... I used to suck when I first got CS:S but now I'm at around 1000 hours and I'm getting quite decent .

Honestly, I try to master one map at a time. Try joining eGO servers and playing one server at a time, only practice will help you achieve success. That way you can begin to notice patterns and spots where people hide on each team. Once you feel you have mastered a map you can try another map and do the same process. While doing this, you can also try the same concept with you guns that way you can get a feel for each weapon one at a time and master them aswell. Hope this helps.
