So yeah, we can all do some Google searches for this stuff, but some of us like the idea of a one stop shop. And you know what, it is a good thing! Why not add some additional tools for those in need of help when posting in the 'Tech Help' forum?
Some of us do not have prebuilt machines with their 'auto update' software. Honestly, some of the software is bloated and clunky; we end up disbaling it anyway as it hogs startup resources, polling our systems and the vendor software servers for new versions. YUK! Periodically checking manually is good maintenance practice. Some of the vendors will have their own 'scan' of your system to find applicable updates without dumping a complete standalone suite on your fresh built rig.
After using XFX video cards for the last few years, they require you to register your product to get to their driver lists. It doesn't matter much for video cards, but may for motherboards. I would have placed Realtek in the list but you are usually better off going to the motherboard manufacturer for that.
I put together a list of some of the more popular manufacturers. Enjoy!
Some of these will overlap, ergo laptop/PC drivers will be in the peripherals list with Dell and HP, chipset drivers will be with internal hardware.
Hopefully this will help some of us feverishly searching the interwebs for drivers after posting for help from the awesome tech help community we have here at eGO!
