Hai!!

I had ubuntu a while back on one of my old computers not sure what version it was but I Loved it. Was wondering if anyone had the Newest version and what does it have to offer that it didn't before and is it work running along side my vista right now?

Mostly navigation enhancements, especially for GUI users. Considering Ubuntu is designed for ease of use, these types of changes are very advantageous.

IMO you can't beat good ol' fashion "find . -name iwantthis* -print"

I'm more intrigued on the kernel it's running on ( 3.2 ), it's based on the linux stable 3.2.6 kernel.

I upgraded an existing ubuntu installation, with GRUB setup for dual boot into Windows. Everything ran fine on both sides, however my partitions were already created and unchanged.

i was actually looking into just doing the Windows install for now. Since thats what i did before.

Dual booting is the most stable install, and it can be easily reversed (assuming you know what you're doing before you start the process).

Ubuntu 12.04 mainly contains UI enhancements, but there are a few changes in the backend (I forgot what they are). Same as every new Ubuntu release.

To be honest, Ubuntu isn't my cup of tea. I dual boot Fedora KDE with Windows, but I used Kubuntu until Beefy Miracle came out.

I have a dedicated Fedora box. Others should give it a try also.

the new installer of ubuntu gives you an automatic option to install next to windows. Just make sure you have a back up for the worst case scenario ^^

Pick up an extra hard drive for it. Most people (particularity the people here) probably have some laying around somewhere.

There should not be a worst cast scenario. The Wubi installer does not do anything concerning hard drives/the partition table or even replacing the Windows bootloader.

It just copies an image file and a casper-rw file to your Program Files directory and adds an entry to the Windows bootloader so you can boot from the image file.

The image file contains the OS and casper-rw contains the changes made in the OS. Or something like that, but still Wubi does not overwrite the Windows bootloader or mess with the partition table, so there should not be a ~worst_case_scenario~ created. It is as safe as installing any application on your computer.

People are always so overly paranoid about their computers, it's actually quite annoying.
