CoD multiplayer issue

Hey,

My brother's trying to join eGO CoD servers without success. When he clicks the connect to server button on the CoD Game Server Listing page it says the server is not responding, even though there are players on it (according to GameTracker)

When he tries to join the IP from the CoD server browser, he gets a PunkBuster not enabled error, and when he tries to enable PunkBuster in the multiplayer options it doesn't change when he restarts the game.

Does he need to download PunkBuster?

(he installed CoD through Steam)

OK, so after installing PunkBuster he no longer gets a PunkBuster not responding error when launching CoD, but I still gets a server not responding error when trying to connect to any of the eGO servers

Any thoughts?

Next step would be to manually update the version of Call of Duty. I would figured Steam would do it, but maybe it doesn't. If that's not the case, then I would just double-check your firewall settings to make sure CoD is allowed.

Well, you'd also have to make sure PB is up to date and allowed through the firewall as well. Honestly, PB is just a bucket of stupid.

Considering he would just have installed PB, I would assume it'd be up-to-date.

You probably should have posted this in the CoD forums.. since you know.. those people probably know how to deal with these issues

Check and make sure your CoD is running version 1.7 (the latest version).

I wouldn't. I always had to manually update PB after I downloaded it to get it to work.

Note: no servers show up in the multiplayer browser for him

I was eventually able to get my hands on the computer and fixed the issue.
