Well I'm looking to get a new video card, budget is around $400 usd my preferred site is newegg.

Was looking at something like that

Will I be able to run this card and other ones like it with my psu

My specs:

AMD Phenom II X6 1100T Black Edition Thuban 3.3GHz

G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB

Rosewill RP600V2-S-SL 600W ATX12V v2.01 SLI Ready Power Supply

GTX 460 1gb ddr5
 
Why are you considering this over the gtx 670?

The gtx 670 hammers the 7950 except in crysis warhead which is strongly amd favored. It also uses less power consumption. Cheapest models can be had for $400 even. I think your psu should be fine to handle either, though you would be safer with the gtx 670 given its lower power consumption, especially considering the quality of that psu I am afraid.
 
That is not a bad option either. I wish nvidia had released some more cards in their lineup by now as I feel that would give you a better option at that price point. However, the 7870 is no slouch. Combine that with a decent 650w/750w psu if you plan to sli/crossfire in the future such as the corsair tx and you are golden. I don't think it is absolutely necessary, but it would definitely put my mind at ease having a higher quality psu.

I would have to agree with putting down some $$ on a newer psu. I have the Corsair TX650W & its amazing! One of the big selling points for me on it was its 5 year warranty (which few psu's come with that to begin with), also it happened to be on sale when I got it (my prev psu clunked out on me) so now I dont have to worry.

If I was going to spend that much on a PSU, IMHO I'd prefer to have this one:

As for the 670 model: If noise isn't a concern, grab the Gigabyte 670 with not two, but three(!) fans. Following that, I'd recommend ASUS (two fans vs. one on EVGA or MSI), EVGA or MSI. You can't really go wrong with any of those four, but the Gigabyte 670 is the same price as the EVGA you posted.

There is absolutely no reason you can't run a 670 on a 600W PSU unless it's a 10-year old unit you bought for $5. You could run SLI 670s on 600W and be fine.

I fully agree with this a 600w should be enough to handle the 670. There are better psu's out there yes but it's not really needed. Imo you would just be spending extra money you don't need to on that.

Yes, this is exactly what I said. It is not necessary to get a new psu for a single gtx 670. However, I would not attempt sli on this current 600w.
 
I bought it a year ago on a budget, but if I do plan to sli in the future I will have to upgrade xD
 
Doesn't this sound like a thread I've made before? XD

Let's cut to the chase: Replace the budget power supply. Don't be a fool like me and have it die midway through a match in Red Orchestra 2. It put a dent into my plans on buying another CPU, since I have to replace it. It may have seemed like a good deal when you were low on cash and needed the power, but its time to replace it. I'm lucky my psu was good enough not to take anything else with it though. I've learned in my experience that the power supply is just as important as any processor, video card or memory available, don't skimp on it.
 
Digital Dead is luckier than I was. My psu went out because of a storm a couple of years ago, but unfortunately for me, it also knocked out my motherboard. Thankfully I purchased another copy of the same motherboard, so im still currently in business.
 
if your psu is a 'no name' brand i would suggest buying a new one with your new 670, especially if youre planning to SLI in the future. That baby needs alot of juice and you dont want higher than 3% power fluctuations on the 12v rail to feel safe.

a pet rock, 2 670's on a 600w? maybe a corsair or high end cooler master, but i wouldnt trust those beasts on just a 600w!

Overall, Nvidia is killing ATI Radeon right now in the graphic department. wanna be set for 5 years? go with the 690! better than any sli or crossfire setup outthere

I've never heard of 'high end Cooler Master' when it comes to power supplies. When you're looking at high-end you're looking at stuff like SeaSonic, certain Corsair units (mostly modified Seasonic internals and whatnot), typically anything Superflower, numerous XFX units, etc.

On that note -- a single 670 (as well as any of the 600-series GPUs so far) uses far less power consumption and is a lot more efficient than the previous lineup, so a high-quality 600-650w power supply should power dual 670s and the rest of the rig, too.

High-end..lol I meant high wattage, like a 1000w cooler master. Many many gamer rigs use these. And as I said before: a high-quality 600-650w psu "should" power two 670's but under fullload plus whatever cooling you have hooked to the 12v rails? Cuttin it close.

with getting a nVIDIA card with a AMD processor is eh .. id rather stay with AMD processor and AMD card than mix and match its just a personaly preference since they intel and nvidia chipsets work better together and nvidia and amd
