Summer is upon us, for those of us North of the equator at least. For some of us that means more time for gaming. For some of us less. I encourage you all to take risks. Charge the front lines and take the objective; take on a whole squad using only a knife; ask for that date. Take risks... with this caveat:

My son, whom some of you have come to know as Toastado, just got his drivers license. I told him the same thing I told his sister when she got hers. "We are not trusting you with the use of our car. We are trusting you with other peoples lives." A neighboring school system just lost four kids and another is in the hospital because a new grad drove over a railroad crossing fast enough to go airborne, hit a ditch and roll his car. That would be so cool in a game. In life, risks have consequences. So have a care on the roads. The life you save may belong to someone I love.

Meet the Leadership

meet%20the%20leadership2.png

By Martyr

VeRtAg0 is the BattleField Division leader. He has been an eGO member for almost two years now, and has shown great dedication to eGO and its causes.

How long have you been in eGO?

V: I've been a member since June 2010. About to hit my 2 year mark. I'm very excited about that!

Can you recall any “WOW!” stories of being in eGO, when you were just amazed with what was going on in the clan?

V: I joined when eGO was having the dust-off event. It was a day long competition where all the divisions competed against each other. I was amazed at how they could organize so many people and so many events in one day. When I was new, I didn't quite appreciate how much time leadership sunk into this community. Now that I am a Division Leader, I realize the amount of effort every one of them has put in for the community.

Who recruited you into eGO?

V: Technically I was recruited by Altec of the CoD division (at the time). I actually decided to join on my own accord after I joined the Ventrilo server and thought everyone was pretty cool.

What got you started into playing video games?

V: Other kids. I started on consoles. First nintendo, n64, and then dreamcast. I got introduced to PC gaming with red alert. My brother and I spent countless hours of red alert together. After this I found counter-strike, and played on and off for a couple years. I got into FPS through CS.
After CS, I got into Planetside, which was a game ahead of it's time. It died an untimely death, and thus I was forced to quit. I then went to WoW, got sucked in, but, miraculously, I was saved from it.
After WoW, I played BC2, where I found eGO, enjoyed their servers, got recruited, and then got to where I am now.

As of right now, what games are you big into playing?

V: Diablo 3, Battlefield 3 (especially once the DLC comes out). I am also eagerly awaiting PlanetSide 2.

If you could pick any one eGO member to sing you a song, who would it be?

V: Beta. He did a couple songs that got posted on the front page. I thought that was hilarious.

Besides gaming, what are your favorite pastime activities?

V: Disc Golf when I have time. Also Japanese Anime. I'm a full time student, and have a part time job. Not much time for anything else.

What is your favorite Japanese Anime?

V: My favorite would probably be Ghost in the Shell.

What is your favorite TV show?

V: Game of Thrones. All the plot twists and turns have me addicted.

What is your favorite band?

V: Probably the Glitch Mob. They are primarily a German based group, though they do a little dubstep.

Thanks for helping out with the Newsletter.

Diablo

diablo2.png

By Dayman

I was quietly walking around the Cathedral when suddenly I was attacked by hordes of enemies. I quickly summoned my three zombie puppies and began spitting forth swarms of flaming bats to destroy my foes. Although I killed many a foe, the swarm seemed never-ending. I began to run, but was quickly surrounded and out-numbered. Out of nowhere massive arrows began stunning my enemies and igniting them. A demon hunter had joined my party and saved my life.

This was one of my first near death experiences in Diablo 3 and I am sure it won't be the last. Whether you like hiding in the back and summoning a swarm of bats to attack the demons, snaring everyone with chained arrows, or maybe even getting up close and striking people with the palms of your hands; there is a little something for everyone in Diablo 3.

Diablo 2 veterans could not wait to get their hands on Diablo 3, which has been 12 years in the making. Personally, I have never played Diablo or Diablo 2, and the game trailers of Diablo 3 didn't impress me. However, my comrades in eGO spoke so passionately about the game that I thought I should give it a try. As you may have guessed, since the game was released on May 15th I cannot stop playing it.

One of the things I love most about the game is how nervous and exciting Diablo 3 can make you. After fighting waves of mobs in some areas you will casually discover the entrance to a Dungeon. Sometimes these dungeons can be pretty easy; then there are the other times. Usually those other times include me running away screaming like a mad man, yelling for some kind of heal and how we will never make it out alive. That is until my group mates kill the boss and I begin to talk about how I saved the day all along by running away. As you can tell I am pretty awesome at the game.

If you are thinking about buying Diablo3, stop, and just go buy the game. Even if you weren't thinking about buying it, go get it; you will not be disappointed. I have not had this much fun in a video game for a long time and I highly, highly, highly, highly, suggest going and buying the game; or conning someone you know into buying it for you. Unless that someone you know is me, in which case GET YOUR OWN copy I am using this one.

Personnel Service Center

PSC2.png

By Dayman

As you know eGO has a very important division that welcomes all new members into the clan. The Personnel Service Center, or PSC, has always played a vital role to our success as a mature online community. There have been quite a few new recruits who have joined this hallowed division. These new members are Spades1, Penguin, Sebax, CLETUS, Sgt. Flathers, Tumblin, Klion, FireHazard772, Cable, Wize, Inquisition, Russo and last but certainly least (just kidding) Oberst.

Along with all the new members allow us to introduce the new Advisors, Division Leaders and Council member. Please congratulate Timr, MACHINE GUN RUSH and The Shameinator on their promotions to Advisor, and Blindy and Dead Tom on accepting the arduous task of Division Leader. Everyone should also congratulate the ever fast, 2sl0w, on becoming the new Council Member for PSC.

Living up to expectations, thus far eGO has had a tremendously successful recruiting run this year. While the CounterStrike division has seen the most recruits for the month of May; the other divisions are close behind. eGO has seen more recruits this year than at the same time last year. The recruiter of the month for May was Matrix1989 and the PSC division would like to congratulate everyone on a great job recruiting.

The PSC will be hosting some new events; everyone should be on the lookout for the event dates and times. The PSC would love to see a great turnout and hopes everyone will enjoy themselves.

Saving the best for last, the PSC wants to specially congratulate UmaTora and Meades for receiving the Distinguished Service Medal for their incredible dedication to the PSC as advisors. Congratulations you two; you earned it!

Battlefield

By Wi1D_K4rD

A lot has happened in eGO's newest division during the month of May, and much more is expected in the future.

Let's get the bad news out of the way first, arguably the saddest news of this month. Battlefield Division Leader, LilShortstuf, will be leaving on hiatus for the next two months as real life has taken precedence. While he will be sorely missed by those who play with him - even if we do joke that he's hardly around anyway- the division will continue to march on in the capable hands of our newly appointed Division Leader, Vertago.

Now on to happier news. Events continue to be popular, complete with a new Events Coordinator. Surferguy93 has already contributed in his new position by coming up with an event known as Precious Cargo. The gist of the event was for a group of ?insurgents? to destroy the defenders and their AMTRAK before they get to a predesignated ?supply drop zone.? Weekly events are posted to the BF Division Discussion every week so check there for any upcoming events or hit up KILLERCANKILL, Surferguy93, or Vertago on vent if you want to hear it directly from the horses' mouth.

Finally, the best news. The competition team continues their flawless victories in the PC Gamers Network tournaments. The final match in the 16v16 ladder pitted eGO against MI6. At the start of the match MI6 had a W-L record of 3-2. Nevertheless, they were able to put up a good fight and made us work hard to beat them by only a single point. Only the second round has been committed to youtube history because neither side remembered to record the first round. For anyone in interested in watching the second round of the finals, the links from both perspectives will be provided at the end of this article. Here's to us keeping the 0 in our now 8-0 record through the rest of PCGN, and in any future leagues. Anyone interested in getting involved with our team should contact KILLERCANKILL or Vertago.

Links as promised:

Call of Duty

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare features seven assault rifles, five submachine guns, three light machine guns, two shotguns, five sniper rifles, four sidearms, a grenade launcher, four varieties of grenades: Frag, Flash, Stun and Smoke, and FrikFry's favorite, knives. Not only that, you can customize your weapons and earn perks.

Perks you ask? Sure, you can reduce your load time, hide from radar, drop a live grenade when you die, increase your sprint distance... The list goes on and on.

Having a very good day? Check out the kill streaks. 3 kills and you can get a uav drone to scout out the bad guys. 5 kills and you can call in an airstrike. 7 kills and you get helicopter air support.

I asked HayesY about his favorite weapon. It turns out he likes the AK74U. It's a sweet little submachine gun that he can fire from the hip.

While we were chatting I felt a sting in the side of my neck and there was FrikFry, frowning as I was staining his knife with O-Positive.

"Quaffer," he says. "You won't forget to tell them about the recruiting contest will you?"

"Urk" says I.

In the interest of keeping the red stuff on the inside I am delighted to report that CoD is running a recruiting contest. Each recruit is worth a point. Here are the details.

Here is the list of rewards:
$10 worth of Steam games: 20 points
$10 worth of Zazzle items: 30 points
1 week of Dedicated Supporter Lite: 10 points
1 event of your choosing: 10-30 points (price to be negotiated)
$10 worth of PC equipment: 20 points (200 recruits for a new video card!)

Counter-Strike

Counterstrike2.png

By Quaffer

Counter-Strike will be supporting Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. If you want to get in on the action early, eGO has two servers running CS:GO BETA:

24/7 =(eGO)=|ARMS RACE|www.edge-gamers.com, IP: 174.36.42.206:27015
Map Rotation:de_lake, de_stmarc, de_sugarcane, ar_shoots, de_bank, de_safehouse, de_shorttrain, ar_baggage

and

24/7 =(eGO)=|CLASSIC CASUAL|16K|www.edge-gamers.com,
IP: 184.173.227.124:27016
Map Rotation: de_aztec, cs_office, de_nuke, de_dust, cs_italy, de_inferno, de_dust2, de_train

Global Offensive (GO) runs on the new Portal Engine and the graphics are sensational. You can see the light reflecting off of your weapons and scopes shift as you move. GO offers a competitive style where you start out with pistols and have to earn money for better weapons by winning matches, and a casual style where everyone starts of with the same amount of cash to equip themselves each round.

There is also a Dust contest to help the de_dust server. It runs from June 1st until June 20th ending at 11:59 pm EST. The winner will earn the grand prize of 75,000 casino cash, a week of Dedicated Supporter Lite, and their choice from a selection of games.

Check CS:S division discussion for more details.

Day of Defeat

Day of Defeat Source Leadership is on the Job

By wewo

Megs A Tagger and Boyle are our Day of Defeat Source Division Events Coordinators. It is no accident that they host events nearly every night with strong attendance and loads of fun; a weekly calendar of events is posted in the DoDs General Forums. Both Meg and Boyle are receptive to new ideas and permit members to co-host events that they create. Among the new events are Spartacus_Legolas’ ‘Protect the Prez’ and Chuck Norris’ ‘1 v 1’ event. Any ideas for new events or to improve an existing one are welcomed by Meg and Boyle. Regardless of the particular event, fun is had by all in server and in Ventrilo.

Annihilator and Greenlight Terror oversee ‘The Rangers’, a relatively new program. The Rangers are a group of dedicated players who are selflessly committed to keeping our servers active. They regularly “seed” servers when not playing and will switch to less populated servers to get them going. To fully appreciate the results they produce, one must see them at work. The Rangers play a pivotal role in improving and maintaining the DoDs server rankings. At present, four out of five DoDs servers are in the top 100 worldwide. Any eGO member can join The Rangers by contacting “GLT” or “Anni”.

Blue Stealth seamlessly organizes two of the most popular events in the entire eGO organization. He runs the weekly Realism event on Saturday evenings at 8:00 Eastern time, which always results in a server full of eGO members from all divisions and even a few pubs, working together to attack and defend territories. With the able assistance of Sumac, “Blue” also runs the Realism Campaign; a tournament consisting of realism matches held over several weeks, pitting Allies against Axis. Every bit of Blue’s attention to detail is required to work out all the complexities involved in keeping the campaigns running smoothly.

Chosen to lead DoDs recruiting, BorderControlAgent is the division’s newest Advisor who excels at recruiting for the division and eGO. He single-highhandedly recruited more members to the DoDs Division than anyone else by a wide margin. BCA’s guide on recruiting is a must read for any recruiter. He is always looking for members to assist in getting new faces into the division, who can sometimes earn prizes for doing so. BCA also hosts recruiting drives on a regular basis, so check the forums to see when the next one is being held.

Of course, this article would not be complete if I didn’t mention the support that the DoDs Advisors get from above. Jeod is a mainstay as Division Leader and Lungbuster leads by example, often seen in-game and heard on Vent. They are both counseled and supported by C-WHiT and slayr357, DoDs’ able representatives on the Council.

Special Mentions

Lastly, former DoD Advisor and 2010 member of the year, St0rmy (A founder of the Realism event), is now an Advisor in the Op:X Division, selflessly switching in order to assist the expansion of Arma II and Red Orchestra 2 (See Op:X article for more detail).
Another former DoD division member deserves our well wishes. Timr was recently promoted to Advisor in the Personnel Service Center . He coordinates the processing of all new eGO members and training PSC members. Our best wishes and thanks go to Stormy and Timr for their contributions for eGO.

Eve

EVE2.png

By Wi1D_K4rD

The latest expansion to EVE Online has been released and with it a slew of updates and new features. Dubbed "Inferno", the expansion is the 17th free expansion released by CCP for their almost decade old game. A decade old game who's numbers only continue to grow while other MMOs fall.

The first major update is on the missile system. Visually, missiles were pretty bland in this author's opinion. A fired missile would just look like a ball of light that exited your ship and hit your target regardless. Now the launcher's are visible, the missiles are visible, and new missile trail and impact effects (each one different depending on the type of missile) make missiles seem more like missiles, rather than random balls of energy. An electromagnetic missile hits causing a blue ball of rather detailed lightning, while an explosive missile explodes in a fireball fitting of its damage type.

The War Dec system was also updated. Alliances can no longer make wars so expensive that they avoid war because other alliances can not afford to fight them, nor can wars be shed by joining an alliance and immediately leaving the war on the alliance. On top of that wars are tracked now so other players can watch the progress to see who is winning. The defending corp in the war also now has the option to call to arms other corps in defense against the aggressor. This opens up a mercenary marketplace where corps can put themselves up to fight in defense of another and gain ISK, the in game currency.

There are other various graphical and UI updates intended to make an old game look and feel up to date. Anyone interested in trying this monumental game can still get a 21 day trial from anyone in EVE. Don't know anyone? Well, contact Socretez (IGN: Socretez Momaki) or 2sl0w (IGN: Scarr Face) on the forums or on Vent. They'll be happy to get you a trial and get you started in game and in eGO's corp.

As always, Fly Safe and Happy Hunting.

Operation X

OPX2.png

By Muffinz

Operation:X has had a great past month, with a lot more in store in the coming months. Do you want a new game, but don't have the money? If you win the OP:X recruiting contest for Tribes Ascend you'll get one for free! Please see the OP:X forums for more details.

The Star Wars guilds have been recently closed due to the game not taking off as anticipated. Fans all over the world were not impressed with this release.

Arma2 has been doing quite well with Special Forces daily missions, and there are many more people playing on the private server. There has been a lot of anticipation of the new public server for Arma2. It will be out soon so keep checking the OP:X division discussion and Arma2 discussion for more information as it is released. There has also been talk of getting a DayZ server for eGO, however, there are many complications and leadership can not make any promises on whether or not it will happen. Season three for Arma is in the works and is estimated to start in July.

Red Orchestra 2 has seen a lot of improvement in the past month. This past weekend, the servers have been full with a long line of players waiting to connect. Thanks to everyone that helped to fill it!

Strategy

strat2.png

By Wilson!!

The Strategy Division witnessed a great month of May with several updates and changes aimed towards getting more members involved in events, clan wars, and even a new game. The division brought interest to a larger group of people by adding Blizzard’s 'Diablo 3', released on May 15th, into the group.

World of Tanks experienced a new 7.3 Patch, which helped the division get more members involved in their nightly Clan Wars. The patch upgraded certain tanks to higher levels, allowing them to match up against better tanks. They would like to remind anyone who is interested, that you are not required to be a certain skill level to participate in the wars, but instead encourage everyone to join in on the fun.

In the world of Minecraft, a new event caught the attention of many members and became very popular. This event, called “Survival” puts all participants into a separate map, resetting all resources and putting the players up against each other in a last-man-standing, fight to the death event in which the winner receives a prize. So come on over to Minecraft and check it out.

Team Fortress 2

by Muffs

Team Fortress 2 has had a lot of changes in their division as of late. Recently they received two new Advisors, Caelestis and Gypsy, so make sure you congratulate them on their forums profiles. There was also a recent promotion list released. Make sure to check the list for your name, and congratulate all of the new admins.

TF2 summer league 4 is starting. Please see the stickies in TF2 division discussion for more information and a chance to sign up. As always there are weekly events for all. Join the fun.

Please make an effort to fill the Black Mesa server, as it has a hard time starting up during certain hours of the day. Recruiting in this server will help build the base of members that love Black Mesa.

All in all TF2 has had an outstanding month with a lot of recent changes and promotions. However, there is always room for improvement, so try to get recruiting numbers up for the next month.
