I didn't choose any of the options. I'm still "wait and see," as I have my doubts about the OS being created what looks to be for tablets only, but there is a remote possibility it could work out on a PC. Because of that, I'll wait for the release and all the reviews to make a decision if I even need to upgrade to it, or will I treat this like VISTA: stick with Win7 until they release a good OS for the PC.
 
I?ve been reading some of the reviews...all of them are mixed; while some people appraise the new interface and the easiness to use (some people said the learning curve is ridiculously easy), some others just hate metro. It looks that W8 will be a hit or miss for everyone, but I?ll see how things develop
 
As someone that does IT for a few hundred machines, I can say that Windows 8 is DOA for us, and I certainly don't want it for home use either.
 
Being that my laptop happens to have a touch screen, I am kind of looking forward to it, at least to try it out. On 7 my touchscreen is kind of wasted...
 
Love the looks, but other than that will stay wit Win 7 for a while!
Funny thing, had win8 installed as a second OS for moths and only launched it maybe 6 or 7 times.
 
I applaud the Tablet / Touchscreen functionality.
I think it should be a mode you can put it in though. I don't think it should be the default mode.
It all comes down to how it's presented to the public.

Most die hard pc enthusiasts will hate Win8.
Most regular users will be completely lost in metro on a desktop pc.
Tablet users will probably love the changes.

I forsee a failure overall.
It will take Win9 to fix this debacle.... Microsoft.. why are you so freakin retarded on every other OS release.
People don't like change generally. Especially when you force people do change in such a drastic way.
They could fix this problem easily though.
It should have been easy for them to simply have a checkbox to put it into a tablet/touchscreen mode... not force everyone on a pc to "deal" with the metro interface.
 
I'm waiting until i have a real version of it running to pass any judgement. Desktop mode seems very similar to W7, and then if you want, you can use the Metro stuff.
 
I honestly hate the way it looks, functionality probably isn't all that great either. I'll wait and see what people say about it when it launches, but even then I probably won't be getting it.

2 versions of the tablet... 1 with Windows RT (The nVidia Tegra tablet) and another with Windows pro (Ivy Bridge intel core i5)

Figures they would try to make thier own tablet. Windows was never meant for that side of the business though. That is where Mac/Apple rules. Windows having it's own tablet, don't think it will be very good it being their first.

While I agree that Microsoft doesn't need to get involved in tablets (windows mobile is a terrible OS), I disagree that this is where Apple rules. Their tables, as well as iOS, are not very good.

I am however always excited to see what a new windows OS will do for me, windows 7 was such a vast improvement over previous OS's, I am hoping windows 8 will be just as good.
 
That Win 8 Touchscreen-Enhanced Interface you see everywhere can (and I'm guessing 99% of the people on PC's will) turn it off. Running Win 8 with it turned off, I thought it was a lot like Win 7 appearance wise.

Biggest wut I saw was the removal of Windows Media Center (you have to buy it ala DLC if you want it). XBMC is good enough anyway, right?
