What happened to the website this AM?

While I was on the TF2 server early this morning (0300-0400 EST), I found that the eGO site was down with a database error. What happened?

It happens every morning while the database is backing up or something along those lines. It only ever lasts like 10 minutes.

actually it was down for a little more then a hour today
