Darkspore halp.

Not totally sure where to put this, so its going here .

I bought darkspore yesterday after months of forgetting about the game.
I saw it on sale via steam and bought it instantly.

Anyways, I played the trial/beta of the game before you could buy it.
Loved it, etc.

I uninstalled it I think , that or this laptop was bought after the beta was gone. Where I clearly didn't re-download it on here. My memory isn't all there I apologize.

So I bought it yesterday and when I went to bed last night I started to download it, expecting when I woke up after 11 hours of sleep for it to be done.
I looked at it and it had said "Download paused". When I clicked "resume updating" it said it was 100% done, but then quickly flashed to "download paused". I google'd around to see if I could fix it and found the forums for installer/patcher updates. I found something from 2011? that seemed like it could work. Which was to delete/uninstall the current darkspore that I had downloaded, and redownload not going through steam. Now, I have zero idea how to use zip or whatever its called. When it finished downloading it opened via that, and I clicked Autorun.exe. The installer for darkspore actually poped up. Which I thought at the time was a great sign considering on steam it wont even launch and says "game currently unavailable". Well wasn't I wrong. The patcher/installer thinks it needs to do that patching and file process 18 times and counting.

I have no idea how to fix it, and seemingly enough, i'm not showing the patience to fix a game that I just bought and not working.

Anyways, if any of you guys have the game and know a fix for it, please holla at cha gurl. Much appreciated, thanks.

I just uninstalled it last week. There were only 3 of us that played it if I recall. It always did act a little funky, I usually ran it independent from Steam with the beta .exe file, even after I bought it.

I have to go to work soon, but let me set it to reinstall and see what happens when I get home from work. If I have the same issue and can fix it I'll let you know.

Yea I just deleted the local content from steam, as well as the outside full file. I'm attempting to re-download it on steam again, to see if that does anything.

You're doing what I was going to suggest. Hope it works. Mine downloaded and fired up with little to no problem. My only gripe was it took a half hour to launch the first time. It had to verify some 44 files then check for patches then do who knows what and all I know is it tied up all my computer's resources for a good long while there. *sigh*

PS to anyone else, this is a great game by the way. Its sale on Steam is a steal. Think futuristic Diablo III but with a leveling twist...you don't gain conventional levels, you gain equipment and the higher level equipment you use on your heroes the higher level your hero is.

It may sound strange at first but trust me it's a great fun system and I love it.

It worked. Once I deleted everything and installed it again on steam it works fine, the patching and verifying did take awhile though . And I might have thrown out a few curse words thinking it was going to do the same thing it did yesterday haha. But all is good and i've been playing it. I'm in the process of changing my persona name because its my betakey haha

so it was working fine before the patch? i had the same problem with fable
