Speeding ticket

Ya so I definitely got a speeding ticket a little while ago, was going 52 in a 40 so that wasnt fun. Now my dad took away the car and I have to get friends to take me places, which isnt to bad but the thing is im in an internship and I have to go downtown every day so thats going to be a pain -_-

Anyone have crazy speeding tickets?

That's unfortunate.... perhaps the cop was in a bad mood. Or terribly bored if you live in a fairly crime-free environment.

As many of you know, I'm a part-time officer (fully sworn... not a rent-a-cop), and I've never written a citation for going 12 over. I'll sometimes stop someone and warn them if I'm bored, but I only cite if its 15+ above the limit. Thinking about it... I actually don't do too many speeding tickets at all.

Well he seemed nice when I talked to him, I think it also might have been that the insurance that I had in my car was expired, but I do have up to date insurance, it just wasnt in my car.

Some areas of the road they want to keep closely monitored for safety reason and others they are just spots where it is easy to get people speeding and they needed to get their quota.

Most cops will pull you over if your over 10. I stay around 8 MPH over and that works for me. If they need to meet their quota they will give you a ticket or if they are angry.

its the nice cops that give you the tickets. the mean cops always let you go for some reason. just thats what happens in my life. i drive uber fast always, and i'll admit it.

That sux especially for your insurance rate from now on. Also for some jobs especially police related will not like that.

I'll point out that most departments don't actually have quotas like that... especially not for speeding. We'll get told "write more tickets", or something like that, but there aren't specific numbers.

That said, there ARE yearly quotas for some departments for things like DUI arrests, and so forth.

there is no quota...here anyways.... cops get yelled at if they write out dramatically less tickets than the guy on the beat before him thats the only rule here... and yea some cops are complete (insert bad word) but i think thats just my bad luck and the fact i smelt like booze and pot cuz i was just at a concert and it was 230 in the morning :-D anyways sorry to hear about you loosing your car i know its a drag anyways best of luck to you with your internship

Only 1 speeding ticket? I had similar case, sped 51 mph on 40 mph road, and the cop handed me 3 citation: speeding ticket, speeding in school zone, and Fail yield right for emergency vehicle... T___T

You can go 40 in a school zone these days? You can only go 20 here.

Well that part of the road has 3 different speed limits within 1 mile >__< 40, 45 and 30 for schoolzone. I'm pretty sure that I sped 51 on 45 but he said I sped at 40 mph part.... It was a foggy days so it took me awhile to realize the "flashing light" behind me was a cop car... At that time we're at 30 mph section so there you go, additional 2 citations....

two days ago I got saved by a lady from getting a ticket

it woulda have been for not stopping at a stop light ticket.

This street is known for people not stopping or rolling stops and making a right turn.

I got saved by a lady holding up a sign telling me that their is a cop hiding around the corner. My lucky day ^_^.

I just worry at the end of the months when they becomes active in lurking around corners and parking lots, giving out citations to meet the quota.....

haha ya i got like 2 tickets once when i was pulled over 1 for speeding and another for having open liquor under my seat (which i did not know was there) it sucked payed a good price for that ticket...

ok, i wanna say something about Emergency Vehicles. I am an EMT-Basic, and i can run an ambulance (if they ever fricking get back to me about my application). now, that being said. if you're on the other side of the road, and its more than a 1-lane per direct street, don't waste your time and pull over. if you're in front of me, yes.

Well, frankly, I think the reason they have everyone pull over is valid. Many people completely panic, or get confused, when they see the flashing blues (or reds) behind them (regardless of vehicle), and will pull over to the wrong side, stop in the middle of the road, or who knows what else.

If cars on the other side have pulled over when a moron is in front, you're in better shape because its much much safer to pass on the left than on the right. Especially in an emergency vehicle.

ya i got a crazy speeding ticket LOL i was driving in illinois on I-55 express way and speed limit is 55 mph and i was going 81 HAHAHAH ya so a state trooper pulls me over gives me a dumb ass speech about how fast i was going and gives me a 75$ fine HEH what an ass hole.
