Speeding ticket

So who was the "dumb ass"? The state trooper pulling you over before you killed some one, or you for not being able to read a speed limit sign?
Seriously, I can understand going a COUPLE of miles over the speed limit when you're not paying attention, or you're keeping up with traffic. But to blatantly put other people's lives in jeopardy by driving nearly 30 miles over the speed limit ranks right up there with drunk driving. Be glad you only got a $75 fine, and a speech. It could have been worse. You could have been written up for "careless driving" or "Reckless driving", which could nullify your right to drive after paying a HUGE fine . Or... You could have just ended up as another statistical road pizza.

Amen Mr. Deets. I let even 15-20 over the limit slide occasionally, especially on expressways. But 25-30 over the limit becomes dangerous. The friend that was going 125 is lucky to be alive. If it was up to me, I would have taken him to jail for that (and could have... a fine was easy!)
I've given that "speech" before... and while it sucks, it's much worse giving the "I regret to inform you..." speech to family members.
Speeding like crazy isn't something to be proud of, and its certainly not something that justifies being angry at police. God forbid we save somebodies life.....

Parking fines ftw
It's what the people want man, Cops in the "Burbs" are indirectly... in a sense... forced to bring city hall some kind of revenue.
Hey Spetz... Have you have heard the captain or any local county gvmt officials subtlely imply that the police need to increase tickets per month? Not a quota but some kind of increased ticket revenue?

Oh certainly. Hell, our town has a buttload of local ordinaces that we can ticket for, that simply provide a fine to the city, and don't go on a persons record.
I could ticket someone for speeding with a city ticket, and the city gets the money entirely. Lovely world.

One time my friend drove backwards down a street, he got pulled over but since there isnt a law saying you cant drive in reverse he didnt get a ticket or anything. The cop just said, dont do that =P

I"m going to go through the process around summer, everything will be a breeze for me expect the physical part. I have to condition myself.
I don't mind the police giving tickets or having a quota at all because if you are mindful of the laws and posted limits/signs you wont get a ticket
3 years of driving and I have yet to receieve a traffic/parking ticket.

Good luck with the process Buck. I'm actually applying to a variety of agencies myself now because I want to move away from part-time, and get on full-time.
The testing process is usually fairly easy (just be sure you can run!), but its not the tests themselves that are a problem, its the interview and background investigation.
