I'm sure a lot of you are aware of many of the config tweaks out there. but for those of you that aren't, check out my latest post on perfecting your hitboxes and customizing your HUD. All of which are legal and are allowed on all sv_cheats 1,2 and 0 server cvar settings.

Thanks but no thanks. I'll stick to default.

I can't express enough how important and exponentially effective it is to do the hitbox correction. It corresponds to your latency, and has outstanding client prediction. The HUD thing is just personal preference i can understand not wanting to do that "Even though it has an optimal performance setting for Max Framerate." but refusing to try out something that has nothing but positive effects on your game and is something you cant see or notice, other than more headshots and amazingly accurate shots kills me a little inside. It's like turning down a free 2012 BMW, because you have a bike that does just fine. but I digress.

I respect your decision and can only say it's your loss.

I'll stick to my own config, but the HUD looks like it has too much going on in it. It's pretty neat that you can change things on the fly, but it looks cluttered and you can change those in options or typing a command in console.

I might try your config and compare to how it works with the one I'm using though.

Let me know how it works out for you. Since you have tweaked your config already, I'd like to know how it stands to others. The second i did this, I started getting a lot more headshots, and i noticed I didn't have to try as hard anymore. which was good because half the shots I took that didn't hit when they should have was just pissing me off to high hell.

Second this :D

Your loss too. ;)

I believe I'll try the netcode settings. I've always been too lazy to mess with them :p

cmdrate and updaterate should be 66 because 100 tic servers are no more, rates should be 30000, crosshair commands are nullified because you can change them from options menu. No mention of interp_ratio which is a must, this cfg must be old.

doesn't matter if you set them to 100 (thats why most set it to 101) because if the max for the server is 66, it will set it to that as long as your value is the same or higher.
that way if you do enter a 100 tick server you don't need to change them again, it will auto set there as well

I may try your HUD;)

But I notice you have to use an installer for the HUD. Can you remove the HUD with that installer?

I installed the HUD without the installer. I just did it all normally.

And I must say, it is FANTASTIC! But the small font isn't for small monitors.

Edit: Im using it now and i gotta agree with Doctor. Job well done on this hud :) I will continue using it :D

I just tried that out and it just absolutely destroyed everything. I had to delete my configs and start over. it even gave me less fps which is funny cause its an fps config. It changed too much. the look, the feel, everything.

my said config just fixes hitboxes. thats it's only purpose, and a lot of other configs out there remove that capability with too many changes.

cl_interpolate 0

This isn't in the game anymore as it was removed with the most recent significant update. It has been replaced with cl_interp_ratio which should stay at 0 to match interp and rates by default.

cl_rate should be maxed out at 100,000 for servers that have ultra-rates. What your rate is set at really won't matter because 99% of the servers today have a maxrate set and will lower ones rate to the cap if they exceed it; same goes for tic rate.

The graphics changes are a good idea if you don't have a "great" system, but CS:S isn't that demanding so changing these really won't show much of a difference. Hitbox delay has a lot to do with client connection. You'll notice more of a difference messing with the network settings on the client side, but many times it's the server that causes that delay.

Try playing on a server with ultra-rates and high FPS; you'll notice a night and day difference with hitboxes without having to change anything.

Stupid Question, WHats hitbox?

When you are trying to shoot someone, the hitbox is the area around the other player that when a bullet passes through them, they will take damage. So for example, the CS:S hitboxes are not overly great at all, and there really is no way around that but if you were to shoot someone and you see the little blood splash or whatever, that is an indication that you hit them in a hitbox. Make sense?

In relation to the thread itself, while it does look interesting, I really don't care at all about my score and I'm just out there to have fun so I think I'll pass. So I don't see how this is "someone's loss" if they aren't accepting to use something they don't want to use just because they care more about having fun and less about score.
