minecraft lag

hey guys, i need some help.

lately i've been experiencing some lag on minecraft, whether it be online or offline, and i can't seem to find out what may be the problem. my first thought is that minecraft itself may be using to much processing power, and that it may be slowing down as a result of that. i have an Intel Core i7-2630QM processor clocked at 2.0 GHz, so i don't know if my processor isn't fast enough for minecraft.

have any of you guys ever had the same issue i'm having? any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks!

You're processor is more then fine for minecraft. I'd reccomend reinstalling Java.. How much room is left on your HDD? do you have a lot of other programs running? How much RAM do you have?

I have 614 GB of free space on my HDD, and I have 6.00 GB of RAM. I don't have anything running in the background while I'm playing. I'll try reinstalling java, and get back to you.

Can you give us more specs? Like GPU and mobo?

Huh. Try uninstalling all of java completely and re-install it. Maybe that should help? I dont see why it would be so laggy. Your GPU/CPU is more then enough to support the game. Try running on your lowest settings possible on vanilla MC?

First define: 'lag'; Do you destroy a block and then have it re-appear. Or do you experience poor FPS, or screen tearing?

If it is the latter of the two, do you have any mods installed? have you 'forced updated'? Is this a recent experience? is it intermitant or consistent lag? Have you installed the most upto date graphics driver? It should be around Catalyst 12.6 for your card
