This story is just...breathtaking, heart-wrenching... call it what you wish.. :|

The fact that the state (Utah) is already up in flames due to the lack of common sense in some people doesn't seem to ring to the people that left their dog in a state like this..

WEBER COUNTY, Utah (ABC 4 News) ? A tiny dog was found badly burned at campsite in Weber County. Now the woman who found it is giving ABC 4 a first hand account of what she saw.

The little Chihuahua, named Hope, was so badly burned: ? of its body was covered in blisters. It was simply left for dead.

?We heard the dog crying and the kids were screaming,? said the woman who found it, who did not wish her name to be released.

The woman found the dog riving in pain lying inside a smoldering fire pit.

?Its burnt fur stuck to my hands, ya know burnt me, the dog bit me. I can?t imagine all the pain it was in. It was just awful,? she said.

She noticed the dog while she was camping with her friends up South Fork Canyon in Weber County. She immediately ran to cool if off in the river, then rushed it to the Brookside Animal Hospital.

?It didn?t look that bad at first, it looked fairly decent but as the days went on she had more blistering. Right now we?re just seeing how it progresses,? said a medical worker at Brookside Animal Hospital.

The Chihuahua?s eyes were burned, she lost a toe, and she may even need skin graphs. So far it?s unclear if the dog fell into the fire pit, or if someone threw her in.

?For someone to intentionally do that, wow!? said the woman who found the dog. ?I know there?s sick people out there. I can?t even think of someone doing something like that. It just makes me sick to my stomach.?

It?s making the woman that much more protective of her own dog.

?Now I?m a lot more aware, my dog doesn?t go off the lease. It?s right next to me all the time,? she said.

The woman said she briefly saw the couple who owned the dog. She describes them as a white couple possibly in their 40?s with a young child, who was also camping in the South Fork Canyon area last week.
