July marks the sixth year of eGO. We started small and every year we have grown. We are now a huge organization, and yet, we never forget the guiding principle: Respect for everyone. It's what brings new people to the clan and what keeps the old timers coming back. Happy Birthday eGO.

Battlefield 3 just released another major content patch. This expansion, called Close Quarters, features four new maps and 10 new weapons. As a result of this new expansion eGO has made some recent server changes.

The first change involves OP:Metro. The OP: Metro server has been changed to Normal Conquest Domination with Close Quarters Combat maps. Also, the City Maps server has been changed to Hardcore Conquest Domination. Both server changes have received some criticism, but mostly the reception has been positive. BF Leadership would like your assistance in filling our servers. Please come and join in the killing of your fellow eGO members. There are three more expansion packs expected to be released shortly, Armored Kill, Aftermath, and End Game, so be on the lookout for more information regarding the release dates.

Recruitment for Battlefield has been doing really well but we would like to see more members joining. BF's Newest Advisor, KILLERCANKILL, has jumped right in, spear-heading the recruitment drive and offering huge prizes for top recruiters.

Last, Battlefield would like to mention that Gizmo has switched to the Strategy Division. Thank you Gizmo for all your hard work you have put into the BF Division.

CounterStrike:Source is one of the most popular divisions in eGO. CS:S has been having a great year so far in recruiting, and is expected to grow even more when Global Offensive releases.

One of the most popular CS:S servers is Jail. Jail has a huge cult-like following of jail-breaking terrorists or mad with power wardens. The wardens seem to enjoy yelling, screaming, and making the terrorists do all kind of nasty things. In order to feed the jail obsession, eGO may be adding new jail maps later on in the summer.

CS:S would like to congratulate everyone for doing a great job with recruiting and remind you to keep checking the forums for new events. Event turnouts have been great and everyone seems to be enjoying them.

Global Offensive is being released on August 21st. Mark your calendars.

Summer brings hot weather to many of us, but for those in the DoD Division it also brings the return of Spartacus? Summer Bounty and a new month-long Domination Extravaganza. The Summer Bounty started in late June with bounties on many of the division members who regularly play on the DoD servers. Collect casino cash for dominating anyone on the bounty list on any eGO pub server and have your name added to the list (or your bounty increased). Spartacus even set up special bounties for melee kills on certain players. See here for more details or to claim your bounty.

DoD DL Lungbuster set up the Kalt and Anzio Domination Extravaganza. Simply post proof of dominating anyone on eGO?s Kalt and Anzio server to gain points. The top three point winners at the end of July will earn prizes, including $60 in STEAM games for first and $20 in STEAM games for second place. Try to catch Chuck Norris, the early leader if you can. Post your dominations here.

Realism is still the mainstay event in DoD. It's pretty much a different way of playing DoD where you use team work to attack or defend in an organized manner. Starting again within the next few months, the campaign is a series of realism matches where you stay on the same team during the entire campaign. It's more like team based and pro elongated realism, and it lasts over the course of a couple weeks.

DoD:S continues to recruit and, with the help of the Domination Extravaganza and the DoD Rangers, the servers have been improving. At this time all five servers are in the top 100 and Avalanche continues to hold the number 1 spot in the World.

DoD?s other events have also been getting substantial support. Some of the events are:

zombies
Frag fest on anzio (fill up the Anzio pub server and have fun on ventrilo)
Hard core rush a regular Tuesday evening event played on small maps
Beacon tag event, catch me if you can
Wild card night (Thursday evening), a poll is taken to chose the event
Realism on Saturday evenings

Players are settling in to Inferno, the latest release of EVE. Bloodbath907 tells me he really enjoys the new graphics for missiles. Not only do the ship skins incorporate the missile launchers on the hull but you can see the missiles in flight and the exhaust trails they leave behind. The new graphics also include an update to the T3 textures of the Amarr fleet.

Seventeen new modules have been introduced in the defense, offense and support categories.

The inventory system has been unified to allow players to see the contents of all the containers that are available to them at a station. New tools have been added so that lists can be filtered and sorted.

Players can now use an effects bar to see what has been directed at their ship.

The game has incorporated more opportunities for players of all levels to earn income.

This is just a brief list of some of the enhancements that Inferno has brought. Head on up to the EVE forums and find out what's new under the suns.

Operation: X

OPX.png

By Dayman

The OP:X division has undergone several changes in the last few months. First, as previously mentioned, we are sad to see the Star Wars MMO officially closed for eGO. We are disappointed in the way that game was handled but we had some awesome adventures. Please take a moment to reflect on all the epic light-saber battles you may have participated in.

Now that the reminiscing is over, *sob*, we shall move on to the fun and exciting things happening in Op:X. There are some people pushing for more OP:X games. One of the more popular suggestions is adding is Zombie Mod for Arma 2, called Day-Z. In a nutshell, Day-Z is a giant, open world full of Zombies trying to eat your brains. Not only are zombies trying to kill you, but you can not trust anyone else in the server either. Survival is the name of the game in Day-Z and this mod is not for the feint of heart.

I asked the Yeti what video game he would like to see added to OP:X and he mentioned Planet Side 2. Planet Side 2 is a MMO FPS that involves combat on a massive scale. Whether or not Day-Z or Planet Side 2 get added to eGO is yet to be seen, however, both of these games are highly recommended.

The servers for Red Orchestra 2 are doing extremely well and are regularly filled. The free weekend in early June clearly increased sales and helped fill the server slots.

ARMA 2 has been growing in popularity, so it is likely that a second server will be added. Keep checking the news for information on the new server.

Tribes is having some trouble with their servers because of the decrease in XP. However, the membership has been steadily increasing despite the hardships of recruitment.

All three games have been receiving great feedback from its members. OP:X would like to thank all of your for your continued support for these games.

On a final note, OP:X leadership would like to announce that ARMA 2 realism campaign season 3 will be starting soon. So be sure to check the forums for more information.

Guild Wars 2 will officially launch on Tuesday, August 28th.

Runescape has had a roll call since mid-May and, so far, they have had 8 responses. If you still play the game you are encouraged to post in the thread.

League of Legends wants to know which date works best for a 5 vs 5 Tourney. The choices are July 23rd and July 30th.

StarCraft II looks forward to a new expansion pack, Heart of the Swarm. The pack will encompass about twenty missions and will feature new units for all three races. In addition new upgrades will be available for some of the existing units.

The Minecraft survival world creative team is looking for rail donations to aid in construction of a railroad to spawn. So far the team has made a nice field of crops, a windmill, and a farm house.

World of Tanks is having a recruiting drive in July, and will award prizes for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place recruiters.

File this under the category "thought it could not be done": glockcoma has beaten Diablo III with a monk.

Reflections

By LadyFace

Greetings fellow eGO?s!

It would behoove you to reflect on the fact that this month is the month of eGO?s 6th birthday! Like every year, there are a bunch of new little admins frolicking about on the servers, learning the trade from us older and much wiser (only sometimes) admins. It?s like a bunch of eggs having hatched all over the land of eGO and so now the little babies must be raised up! So you new G?s, we not only expect you to listen to what we have to say about adminning, but practice it well, so that peace and harmony may reign throughout the domain that is eGO. As a side note, that means you new eGO?s must tend to the duties of showing the righteous way of being a good and well-balanced admin. It?s a quid pro quo, really.

In other news, it would appear there have been some new and pretty changes to the website layout. Maybe it?s not new to you, but it?s new to me and it?s interesting to think about what eGO looked like only a year ago and to compare it to now! Things are constantly changing and getting better all around.

The past year went by fast. People have come and gone, old leadership replaced with the new and bigger and better servers established in place of small ones that couldn?t make the cut. I myself received my O on the 5th birthday of eGO, I?ll never forget that day, just as I am sure the lot of you remember the day you got your O. I know I?ve only been around for about a year and a half, but I?ve come to love the eGO community like I love my friends and family here at home. It?s true, we?re here to play video games and have fun, but along the way, sometimes we make friends , and plus, sometimes they end up being some of your best friends.
