Choppy input/input lag

In Counter-Strike: Source, during all forms of game play, including the main menu, my mouse input is really choppy and will sometimes cease altogether, but only for a few moments. The only changes I have made are installing a UI, which I subsequently uninstalled to see if it would fix the problem, since the input issues started shortly after.

This issue replicates itself in pretty much all other resource-needing video games. Games such as TF2, Portal 2, Garry's Mod. Upon further testing, I noticed this was limited to Source games. I've tried reinstalling all of my Source engine games to no avail.

Does anyone else have this problem/a fix?

Is your mouse wired or wireless?
What port does it use? USB, the "regular" port, etc..

It's a wireless, connected to a USB Hub, since my laptop has a painfully low number of USB ports.

I also tested my trackpad. Same results.

I bought L4D2 on the summer sale, since it was only $5.

This problem doesn't replicate itself in L4D2, but it does in all other Source games. The problem actually first made itself present during a game of CS:GO, then spread to other Source games.

Also, if I turn on direct input, it somewhat removes the problem, but since my mouse has a low DPI, it doesn't work out too well.
