maybe it isn't the universe that is expanding, but our view of the universe.

Our view of the universe is "expanding" due to our inability to see the end. Every new thing we see we still think it's 'expanding' because of this. Everything that has a beginning, has a end. It's just what comes to me when I think about it. So in reality, the universe is not infinite, just impossible to reach the end.
