Steam coming to Ubuntu

Though we've been asking for years, loyal fans know never to doubt valve. And here they are to deliver again. Dancing around the idea in hints and teasers and small leaks for years now, valve has officially announced it will be bringing the steam client to ubuntu, and l4d2 will be its first officially supported title on the distro.

Personally I think this will do wonders for the company, a company that pretty much owns its own share of every gaming company that exists.

This is wonderful news. Its about time I don't have to dual boot in order to game and use Ubuntu. ;]

It will be some time before all the games are made compatible with ubuntu. So I wouldn't get your hopes up yet.

But this is definately good news for the future of gaming and Linux! It starts with ubuntu, but it's only a matter of time before games are made compatible with Windows, OSx, AND Linux!

Downside is that Microsoft will lose a huge customer base when people who've been waiting for years for gaming to be ported to Linux stop using windows all together.

As a heavy Linux user, I'm very excited for this!

Phoronix also reported that Valve would be working to create open-source graphics drivers, which is something that is pretty poor under Linux.

Very exciting news. Can't wait till I can fully dump Windows!

Ubuntu in really one of the best & finest these days. No virus penetrate that easily. Other wise well fasten o.s .Really one of the better & it got very good o.s under it. Else there are some negative points likes windows based games are not supported by it ........... Here some work needed

My dual Boot system is very nice. The fact that i wont have to make workarounds for every update of Ubuntu to run steam will be very nice.
