I thought it would be interesting to see what everyone's opinion is regarding outfitting various classes, starting with Recon.

First of all, it's RECON, not sniper, and "Recon leads the way!" Infiltrate, spot, tag, then shoot.

That in mind, my preferred kit starts with the tracking dart gun. 'Nuff said.

I use the SVU, primarily because it's silenced and doesn't leave that annoying vapor trail back to my head. The silencer allows me to shoot from behind enemy lines and get three or four kills before I have to displace. So long as I don't give out the annoying "That's for my friend" avenger kill announcement, I can hide in their midst (most of the time anyway). High power scope and magnum ammo, of course.

I also use the mortar rather than the C4, because it can take out a camping tank or nest of bad guys hiding under a windmill without my having to get to close. I carry no close range weapon, so the mortar allows multiple kills when I see an angry nest.

Which brings up an interesting point. Spawn on me if you want (and bring ammo please) but don't camp right next to me or another recon guy. And never, ever, fire one of those smoke trail rpg rockets from over my shoulder. I can't count the number of times some engineer has given the enemy two kills because of not thinking before shooting!

Your thoughts?

I am a combo sniper. I like the high power rifle (GOL, M95 )for very long distances with magnum ammo and center of mass (preferibly head).I like the M95 cause it is a chopper dropper. I like the mortar for the wiping out of univited guests and clear brush and buildings. When I get in close I get a little dirty. I like to goto the silenced rifle so as my position isnt given away by a loud blast being followed by a group of thugs looking for a free kill. Then I like to sneak around the ranks and say hello. Especially when I get in between a squad and they cant seem to figure out things till its to late.I like to get between them when they are confused when thier teammates are dropping from my knife dropping them one by one. If I see a tank shredding things to much I will drop a party popper on it and hit the road. Then I will look for the perfect spot that isnt being invaded by star wars clones all sitting on the same rock enmass shooting.:P

Really depends on the map, on Heavy metal I run with the M24, and mortar. And if you ask why the M24 it is the only sniper rifle that I am at 52% headshot rate with...:), mag ammo and of course the 12 power scope.

I should have been specific; yes, the Heavy Metal map. On the other maps, there is rarely a need for recon, and team spotting seems a lot more optional. Most players simply run around shooting. Because of its size, Heavy Metal pretty much requires a couple recon at least (although more than half is a waste) and the team that doesn't spot rarely wins. Too much open ground!
