2012 EdgeGamers Organization Team Fortress 2 Olympic Games

It seems Caelestis forgot to mention the spawn camping that took place after the event...:P

Congratulations to tonight's winners!

Long Jump Champion: Varil

High Jump Champion: Chuo

Now I know what you're thinking: "Cael, those jump events were so frustrating!" Well, now you understand why I don't play jump maps. I mean, really. You spend time practicing jumps and before you know it, you've turned into Wilson and then there's no helping you. But look on the bright side: people did win prizes nonetheless! VP took home the Hermes, Varil claimed innumerable crates, and Chuo is now the proud owner of a Strange Market Gardener. Tomorrow's volleyball competition should be much more entertaining. After all, we're going to be putting the "Team" back in "Team Fortress 2" with the volleyball event.

It's time to get back in the game. There is a long way to go before the Olympics are over, so don't give up yet! The prize I give out could be to you!

Congratulations to tonight's winners!

Volleyball Champions: Slyman and SnowCanary

Now, I know what you're thinking: "Cael, it only took you like an hour to get the actual game started and then the matches didn't even take that long!" I know. Chalk up one more thing being in need of refinement. I apologize for the technical difficulties and perhaps even more so for the aggressive spawn camping (as an aside, SnowCanary apologizes for nothing in terms of spawn camping) that contributed to the brevity of the sets. Ideally, more structure will prevent some of these problems from arising in tomorrow's event: basketball. Now, in an attempt to corral a question, basketball is going to be Soldier only. I'd talk more about expectations tomorrow, but really, who has the time to read a post I write?

Stick with me for the next few days. After all, Slyman is now wearing a hat painted Noble Hatter's Violet and SnowCanary has a hat painted A Deep Commitment to Purple because they persisted throughout tonight's event. Everyone who participated tonight received points going to the aggregate score for the gold medal, so keep your eyes on the prize!

Congratulations to tonight's winners!

Basketball Champions: Noblewarrior and Wilson!!

Now this is what I'm talking about, ladies and gentlemen. A simple and amusing little tournament tonight where there was so much denial, it was like we were in cp_egypt.

Okay, so that was a bad joke, but you know what? That final round was no joke. Alright, so that was another bad joke, but what's that? You say you didn't see the finals? Well, stop sitting on the sidelines and join in! Noblewarrior took home a Tyrant's Helm tonight. Just imagine what sort of great prize awaits the next winner. Tomorrow's event is archery, so bring your bows and arrows. Just think of tomorrow's event as The Hunger Games, only interesting.

Congratulations to tonight's winners!

Archery Champions: Nik :D and Varil

After some really riveting rounds on our three maps tonight, I must congratulate Nik and Varil for their excellent Huntsman [strike]skill[/strike]luck. Varil took home a Strange Razorback and Nik now proudly boasts Strange Jarate (which, knowing him, is not all that surprising). There were some hilarious taunt kills, dem Halo hops, and, of course, plenty of arrows to knees.

So, did you like watching, or did you find yourself thinking that you could do better? Want to get in the game? Time is running out, ladies and gentlemen, but the events are only getting bigger and better from here. Tomorrow is dodgeball (bane of Dexter, boy genius) so I hope you've brought your flamethrowers and asbestos-lined suits! See you on the court!

Also, I want to make it clear that I call hax on fooface, who made it into the finals ahead of me by ONE FLIPPIN POINT.

Congratulations to tonight's winners!

Dodgeball Champions: Varil and ShinobiSli

So many rockets, so little time! After a few false starts with the quirky dodgeball plugin, we finally got rolling and had great "tennis" and "baseball" tournaments. As ever, I'd like to thank everyone for their attendance and participation. Varil now has a Strange Backburner and Shinobi has a Strange Flamethrower!

Tomorrow is the final day of the Olympics. Whoever has accumulated the most points at the end of tomorrow's events will win the grand prize. If you're concerned you don't stand a chance of winning the grand prize, fear not: you get a special award just for participating! Come out and have a blast with tomorrow's soccer match. If you have anything to say in terms of recommendations, concerns, comments, et cetera, feel free to let me know here or elsewhere. See you on the field!

I won't be able to make it. For those of you who saw me for three minutes, I joined late and had to get off anyway. So, good luck all, and congrats to the winners!

Congratulations to tonight's winner!

Soccer Champion: SnowCanary

After some very dedicated sniping from afar, SnowCanary carried home a lot of loot, including Ellis's cap, an Engineer's cap, a Mining Light, and a crate to be named later. In the spirit of fairness, GamingRobot32 took home a Name Tag for his good sportsmanship (coming in second every single time).

This concludes the 2012 EdgeGamers Organization Team Fortress 2 Division Olympics. Did you enjoy some of these events and want to see them come around more regularly? Do you have opinions on how this could have been done differently or more effectively? Let me know! I am always willing to hear what you have to suggest, be in through Steam, private message, drop box, or Ventrilo. Thanks for participating!

Thanks for competing!

The cauldron has been extinguished for the 2012 eGO TF2 Olympic Games. Everyone who helped or participated did very well and has my gratitude. My thanks go to, in no particular order:

SpidEY, master of dodgeball plugins
Wilson!!, even though he cheated most of the time
The Event Coordinators: Kazoo, Logic Overflow, Meep, Nik :D, Sephiroth, ShinobiSli, Shiznoe, Varil, VP-77, Wize, and Zeu5 for all of their input and assistance
Everyone who was a participant
The Academy, for giving me this awa...wait, I think I lapsed into something else; never mind

But maybe most of all, I'd like to thank all the people who didn't have any conviction that this could be remotely successful. Without their total dearth of faith in me, I probably would have been less motivated to make this work. Yes, there were bouts of clumsiness along the way and a number of things that could be reworked. However, this made a terrific test run for anything of this sort in the future. So, to everyone who assured me I had no idea what I was doing, much love. Enough of that, though; on to the medalist ranking!

Bronze medalist: VP-77 (69 points)
Silver medalist: foopace (91 points)
Gold medalist: SnowCanary (93 points)

Due to some errors and misunderstandings at the top level, there was a mix-up in what would be the grand prize. Hilariously, the top three medalists already had a copy of the grand prize, so SnowCanary won an all-expenses-paid vacation to the Bahamas (actually, 2Fort), foopace won a CS:GO beta key, and VP won the coveted prize of being my personal secretary. But everyone took home a Special Events award just for playing, mostly because I love flooding the ShoutBox.

So, did you enjoy the Games? Do you have recommendations on how to improve it? As always, feel free to contact me about this or any other events. Now, of course, you could always go attend the Minecraft Olympic Games, but we all know it's just not the same. They don't even have a pigeon with a ring around its neck.

Thanks again!
