Any pointers to playing TF2 for me?

Just find the class you enjoy the most and stick with it! The best way to get good at this game is practice, practice and practice. Watching videos on youtube sometime help you but it's all a matter of your game style and putting you in a situation (For instance since you enjoy the pyro at the moment) Air blasting projectiles back at the target that shot it at you. If you need any help feel free to pop on vent and ask some people. There's always a bunch of people willing to help.

BLASPHEMY! How can you not care for scout? In my opinion he's one of the most fun classes to play, but to each his own. Anyways download tr_walkway it's a good map to practice your aim and get a feel of the game.

Uhm, I didn't say I maxed the curve and am playing competitively now. I've been playing tf2 for a little over a month now and I'm decent. Not good, but not as crap as I was when I first joined. Compared to other games I've played, the learning curve of tf2 is is much smaller and its much easier to go from being a bad player to the middle section.

Some games are more noob friendly than others, and tf2 is one of the noob friendly games.

Also, I see you spent the most time on 2Fort. I'll let you know that 2Fort is mainly a map for new players to go into. Of course you're going to think that the game is noob friendly. You need more time than like the 30 or so you probably have before statements like that are made.

You don't really need to do that. In most valve games, the right way or clear paths will be well lit areas. This is most apparent in games like L4D. Tf2 takes the cake with clear directions considering there are signs to key positions everywhere. . I'd recommend you learn the limitations of each class and what you can and can't get away with.

Try a PuG, or even a lobby and come back. If you're a newb people will most likely rage at you. xD

Hey @ppl3p! I'd just like to welcome you to the TF2 servers!

I started playing TF2 about 3 weeks ago and am still learning but from what when i started to know i've picked up a few pointers.

1. pick a class.
What do you like to do? Are you a battlefield medic that likes to heal? are you a tank that likes to absorb bullets and shoot down people? or are you sly as a spy, or fierce as a Sniper?


2. Learn the Maps. know where the med packs and ammo places are. watch others as they play and see how they play their class and grow from there.

3. advise! Ask for it! dont be afraid to seek advise on the class you have selected, or how to do something. also when someone corrects you or says to do something don't get offended. take their advise and learn!!!!!

5. Vent, Communication! Talk to your team-mates in-game or come on vent and communicate with us!

6. dont worry! Have fun, it's a game! some areas even i am still learning. I don't know what items are good or what this and that so it's okay if you are still learning as well!

Though recently since I started looking at this tf2 game, I have been dabbing around in the tf2 channels.
You guys seem to be less weird than my cod companions. I do kinda appreciate the weirdness so don't be afraid to be yourself in vent when I'm around.

Try to aquire some skill at all classes, so you can switch depending on what your team needs.
Always try to help out teammates, example, extinguish flaming teammates and deflect projectiles that are bound to kill someone. Most people will thank you, and you'll be a team player.
It's called Team Fortress 2 for a reason.

it really really is. and that is why i like to vent my frustrations there by getting as many kills as i can and then leaving.



@OP, I would try playing on our Valve Map rotation server. The caliber of players is slightly higher than on 2fort (typically), and it will give you a variety of maps.

don't play foundry. Nik & Co. play there and will murder you.

I don't understand why everyone's trying to say focus on one class you really like, 'cause there's 9 classes to choose from... So why not be good at them all? I like to vary it up when I play.
