In a recent trip into the bowels of Youtube and I found these historical gems!

These cartoons were created to teach soldiers with weak literacy skills basic skills and common sense and were used in conjunction with comic books ( which I sadly could not find). Private Snafu was created by the U.S. Army Air Force First Motion Picture Unit and were mostly written by Theodor "Dr. Seuss" Geisel, Philip D. Eastman, and Munro Leaf and Directors such as Chuck Jones, Friz Freleng, Bob Clampett, and Frank Tashlinworked on them. almost all the voices were provided by the famous Mel Blanc. These films were a top military secret in WWII and were produced in a speedy six weeks compared to public cartoons of the same length that were produced in six months. These cartoons were a great success among the U.S army and in polls among U.S GIs Private Snafu was usually the first or second favorite. there are 24 shorts in total with a few still retained by the military.
