Hello everyone.

For those who don't know me i'm The Nonlocalist. Haven't been around long, say maybe 5 months.

Liked the servers. Seemed there was a will to keep things in a good ol'fashion, good fun between mature people. I even wanted to be a part of it and gave it a lot of time, thinkin just maybe I could help it too. Even got promoted to an eG and to the best of my knowledge, did things wisely without any intent to brim anyone. Some agree. Some don't. It's life. I'm not gonna bend head over knees to make everyone happy. That's where i draw a line usually.

Lately i've realized I lost my fun. That aint good. And seems us Admins been getting our hands full lately on the bfbc2 side. I even noticed some don't show up just as much as they used to. Could be summer, coincidence, or just me. But the why i loved playing Heavy Metal with eGO's got lost somewhere and wish it didn't get to this. Even got pubbers complaining about how it's always loaded with trolls, reading challenged people and flatout dumb(asses) who think they're entitled to anything and everything on our servers, killing other's fun. Don't get me started about 7th grade yomama general stuff and so on.

The people who been coming here for months/years faithfully shouldnt have to deal with this.

The Admins in their (limited) options either, shouldnt. Remember they were guests too before graduating.

New =e='s are on the notch. I Like them. They shouldnt have to deal with this too.

So yeah... we gotta figure out something to weed out the place. People aren't always patient.

The NonLocalist, (=eG=) BFBC2 Division.

In my opinion... (And I don't play BC2 anymore, so I don't know how accurate my statement is, but from what I read from what you've posted this is what I've concluded)

There is only so much the admins can do.. the server is only as clean as the admins make it. If no body is willing to clean up the problems they come across on the servers that they agreed to upon promotion, then it will continue.

Thus, the reason for ban submissions as an =(e)= and =(eG)=, and ventrilo to contact =(eGO)='s and Advisors.

If I still had BC2 installed I would be more than willing to come help. I do agree with you, however, nothing will change if no body does anything about it.

I try to be there every day, but, I just get burnt out, I have even formed a very jaded view of pubbers, I try not to,but, when you warn and then kick someone, only to have them come right back and blantently do it again, well what else am I supposed to think.
Yesterday Orb of Death, Panzer1509, and a few others were in there and we had a blast, it was the first time in a long time that , well we just played, yea we had a few "bad apples", but it didn't stop us.
We also have quite a few regulars that do not like the rules being broken, and aid in weeding out the "bad apples'.
I, for one, refuse to let the rule breakers take my fun, if I do, they win, and I will be damned if that is going to happen. Oh sure I piss some folks off I am sure, for I can't be everywhere or see it all at the sametime, but , as an admin I do my job to the best of my ability, and will do until I am told I am doing something wrong. Our servers do not NEED perfect admins they need admins to show up, be present, and enforce the rules. I am not saying do not strive to be perfect, I am saying be there, be an admin, show them WHY , Ego's Heavy Metal is number 12 in the world.

Beemer i totally know whats your stance, we did have it yesterday.

That yesterday trollorama is what im mostly trying to bring up, seeing as it always happens on a regular basis almost scheduled...

Get what i mean?

As in early on am when we were just the two of us admining the place. Idk about then cause i just simply pulled the plug.

I've done plenty of "admining" on our BC2 servers over the last few months, but lately I've been busy and haven't been able to play as much as before. When we have active admins who are respectful and know what they're doing, you get moments like these: http://i.imgur.com/xsSvM.jpg and http://i.imgur.com/Vnfy3.jpg

When no admins are on the servers, and none are willing to step up, you get those situations where people are doing practically anything they want.

I feel that what's left of the BC2 division is getting the short end of the stick. When a situation arose and someone asked for an admin for BC2 in ventrilo, I hardly ever saw anyone step up. Even certain advisors act like I'm just annoying the hell out of them when I ask them for help with something.

The thing that annoys me about this post is that pple complain about having no admins on the server but you can go on vent and find at least one (very rarely do i find one that does go searching). I am on vent almost everyday at the same time

the next person who starts a post about a lack of admins on heavy metal................

You can always come to one of the advisors, we can admin the server through procon.

Wish O's could have that benefit of using procon!

Would love to help admin it, I just don't want to have to install the game just to do that...

It would be a nightmare to manage our servers if everyone had procon access. Its so easy to mess up a sever with procon and many times even between 5-6 advisors we mess stuff up. Now just imagine that times hundred or more, it would be total chaos.

Just easy to msg one of the advisors or up and all your issues are resolved within minutes (well most of the time :P)

Tell you what I am tired of is this crap of BF3 division and BC2 division ..IT IS THE BATTLEFIELD DIVISION, you guys moved to BF3 and uninstalled BC2 for whatever reasons you may have fine, but EXCUSE the HELL out of me for not having the money to pay EA for yet another freakin failure, I know of two people that are about to leave this organization because of this..and I am one of them. I am left to feel like a piece of crap because I can't move along with everyone else.
If this is the way you all feel hell drop the freakin BC2 servers and be done with it.

Bee, the BF Division consist of both BC2 and BF3, but unfortunately BF3 gets more focus because it is the newest version of the franchise and obviously gets more players and more attention in regards to new DLC's.

I can understand your frustrations in regards to admining BC2 but believe me our servers are among the most well managed ones out there in the BC2 world. Anyhow lets see how we can divert some more attention back to BC2. BC2 is still one of the finest editions of the Battlefield series and in many ways superior to BF3 as well. Leaving the organization wont solve any issues, lets come up with some strategies on how we can improve our admin structure on the BC2 servers.

I was a fairly consistent player in the Heavy Metal server for a while. I was on... every... night. I would even bounce in vent and chill in a room in case anyone cared to stop by and say hi. As of the last few weeks, my work has become nearly overwhelming, staying until after midnight during weekdays, going in the next day before 7am, working on the weekend after putting in a 60hr week... Trying to stand up a brand new hospital is a daunting task.

There are quite a few times during the day I think, "Man, I would love to jump into some BC2 right about now." or "Man, I wouldn't mind perusing the PSC for some fresh meat to process." (no pun intended)

When I was an e, it was a relief to get G with some admin powers. On numerous occasions there would be no admins on and had to see foul chat or other rule breaking. I was finally able to enforce the rules on my own without having to let these knuckleheads wreak havoc while I try to alert another G or an O. My point is, nurturing those new e along to the tune that 'Yes it is a little frustrating, but be patient and soon enough, you will be able to enforce server rules yourself, fully.' Being an admin is easy. Being an effective admin is the challenge.

I always make it a point to keep things running smoothly while "on-duty". As stated by responses in this post, there is usually someone in vent or on STEAM that can be reached for help. If one doesn't respond quick enough, try another. That's what I do. Get a cocky / snide reply? -Shame on them for not being a team-player. A persons role within eGO should never dictate the resulting response to a fellow eGO needing assistance. I have reached out to Short, h9, Beemer, Tip, and got help when needed; no questions asked. Thank you for that.

I really do miss playing on the server as often as I did. :crying: I don't like seeing my server activity level below 90% down there in my sig. :( I will jump in when I can and I WILL return as normal when things calm down for me a tad.

Keep your head high. If things are getting out of hand on the BC2 servers, if you see me on STEAM, drop me a line. Heck, even if you don't see me on STEAM then PM me in the forums. I'll get it on my phone. If I can bounce in I will. If I can't I will at least respond as such. :)

bye...

... time for some cookies and milk.

I find BC2 much more satisfying. In all honesty, I would never have ever played BF3 if so many people hadn't left BC2.

I am going to be playing a whole lot more now. Maybe you might see some AT4 videos in the future.

Skag we should get together with Funk some time for some of the good ol' BC2. Like the good ol' days.

Ahhh I miss the days when my heli would be all over the place trying to avoid H98?s AT4 :P

BC2 was a great game, those days spent on the hill at B on Heavy Metal with my tank, great memories :crying:

I've got about 600 hours on this server, almost all of it in the past six months. That amounts to an average of about three hours per day. Some days are zero, some days are seven-plus, but eGO Heavy Metal has been my "go to" server of choice since I first found it. Typically, there is a line to get in, and I've waited as third in line for more than 15 minutes just to play here. Obviously, I want to play here.
That said, The Nonlocalist's position is accurate as far as it goes. There is a large number of new people (that is, names I don't recognize) stopping by just to break the rules. The number per game or per day waxes and wanes, and was really bad at the start of the summer, but has not been especially noticeable as "bad" (at least by me) in the last several weeks. Players get kicked sometimes when an admin is present, only to come right back and do it again. Almost without exception, the admins are, in my old-man-get-off-my-lawn opinion, too patient with these players. Where a player is warned, e.g., for team griefing, but then brags about it on chat and does it again, he should be banned for 15 minutes rather than simply kicked. I've watched Beemer admin several times where he or I are killed in the uncap, and his patience is way, way, more than I would give. A player has to return to the uncap several times before a ban is imposed.
As anyone who has played with me will agree, I can be a demanding player to my team. I remind them to spot every five minutes or so, and the sarcasm in my chat isn't always obvious. However, I do participate and assist, even where not asked, the admin. If something happens, I tell them. If they are overwhelmed, I put my game on hold to help by identifying the troublemakers. That is, to my thinking, a part of the =e= tag. Other =e= members do the same. My point is, it's up to all of us to not take the blatant, unrepentant, rule breakers into our server.
There is no public access to ban requests, but I have submitted several, all but one granted for at least a week. (That one was a documentation error on my part.) When players are banned, the 100 or so "regulars" on the server (or at least the 32 of us that make it into a game) have a great time. Out of an hour of play time, I maybe have five minutes of true disruption. While I would prefer not to lose because some idiot is blowing up our own helo, or some baseraper planting AT mines in front of the tanks, I would rather have that 55 minutes of great time with my new friends that not have it because of the five bad.
What I have discovered is that most players don't know that the server saves the chat log or stats. Once they do discovery it, they shape up and have fun, or they quit and find another server. Either way, the gang actually on the server has a better game experience.

.

There is a great reason why u warn then kick then ban if necessary, we can't skip any, unless it is blatant racism. On another note not all of us are that patient, i myself ban pple relatively quickly when they deserve it.
Every server will always get blatant rule breakers no matter what.

I know I am kinda jumping in this late but you can almost ALWAYS find me in a BF div channel on vent. I have BC2 still downloaded and would be more than willing to help admin if you would but ask it of me. As far as the admins being kinda "soft" on repeat offenders, I have already mentioned my concerns to the leadership. I also understand that if you spend your whole time on the server admining, you end up ruining the fun and really not wanting to play anymore. Me personally, I havent been able to play as much as I would like due to the fact I finally started my new job. I work 12 hr shifts and really dont feel like putting up with ignorant individuals after I get off. The days I am off however, I will do what needs to be done in order to maintain integrity of eGO servers. If you have any questions or need something from me please dont hesitate to ask =)

Bee Its not worth leaving. A few of us have just came into the squad and are ready willing and able but we have a probationary term to meet. I love a good fight when everything is going great in the game. It makes it that more fun. Until our probationary period is done I am going to be on the other being a pain in the ass to whomever wants the ruin the game for the rest of us. We BC2 guys have to stick together on this as it will make us stronger. As for the admin status for us noobs it comes with time and for people to see that some of us are capable of doing the job well others like people who step into a uniform just let it go right to thier head and power trip. When I see a junior member beaking off to a junior NCO about stuff the junior member should be taking up with the upper eschalon well it makes me wonder on of these pubbers and for us old farts , rugrats. We just have to work together and make this work.Thisis a great server, one of the best I have seen with more organzation then most.We just have to tweak and clean....Stick around bro its worth it when you get a team working together which createws moments you will remember for a lifetime and not just on autopilot blasting away hours but fun at its purest. We have the makings here I know we do.

The next person who says "we bc2 guys" or "we bf3 guys", this a division we are all a team no matter what game we have, play or prefer.
