Not overly impressed with the build I'm afraid. It seems like we keep going backwards. Bulldozer and a 7850 are not amazing for $1000. An Ultra PSU is not quality either. The case looks decent enough, but I would still prefer Corsair quality over a thermaltake. However, given the personal preference of the component, it is up to you. Don't simply take your friends word for it.

Are you charged tax on all sites and what state are you in? Also, did you ever determine if you have a Microcenter near you?

Here is a quick build update since it appears your budget is dropping a little bit which isn't a problem:

Since you aren't purchasing for a little bit, the 660 Ti should be released mid August which should provide some great 1080p performance, especially in BF3 which favors nvidia if that is one of your main focuses.

But again, find out if you have a Microcenter near you.

Yeah, I would definitely take Huckleberry's build over the one your friend listed any day of the week. The case Huckleberry listed is one of the best towers our there IMO. Western Digital Caviar Black hard drives are top of the line. Intel Ivy Bridge CPUs outclass AMD Bulldozers a thousand times over. Corsair makes the best power supplies.

Pretty much, that build is sexy for a decent gaming computer on a medium budget.

I would check out NCIX.com Been dealing with them for years and their pricing is generaly WAY better than tiger direct . They have Canada and US web sites
