I need your input please!

I have spoken with several advisers about this- they told me this has been tried once or twice before without much success- but after careful consideration, I have decided to make another attempt at Signature of the Week.

Now, I don't know how this was run before, but I have my own way of doing things, and since I would be the one running this show, I would go with what I am familiar.

All that being said, I am unwilling to go forward with SotW unless I know that people are interested in participating. Hence this thread. In all honesty, I would hope that with a community as robust as edge-gamers, there would be a larger contingent of graphic artists than there seems to be- and in my experience, competitions like SotW tend to draw those people in.

So! Please take some time to consider this, and reply here. Vote as well. Thank you!

Come on guys, this is important. If you want to keep the graphics division of the art section alive, this is by far the best way to do that. Competition is healthy!

I'm glad you said that you need to get better at photoshop- people like you are the foundation of growing art communities. As of right now, there is one "how to" thread for PS (by TomsSound). I have been considering adding my own thread. But I would not be doing that until after I get this SotW thing going.

SOTW was always fun. I even won a couple times. It would be great to see this brought back for the enjoyment of the community.

Okay, this is looking good so far. I'm going wait until tomorrow to see who else responds. If the response continues to be this good through to tomorrow, I'll put up a thread detailing how it will work and get feedback on themes and such.

Hokay! I'm not going to put up the actual SotW thread until next Monday since it is Signature of the Week and not Signature of whenever the heck I decide to set it up... anyway,

it will work like this:

Submissions-

Each week there will be a different theme. All submissions must comply with the theme in order to qualify.

Each participant will submit 1 brand new tag, made specifically for the competition (you cannot reuse work previously posted to the art section).

Along with their submission, each participant will provide the render that was used (if one was used). This is a general safeguard against plagiarism (not that any of you would plagiarize, I'm sure). If C4d's are used, it should be stated (please do not post C4d images- they tend to be very large files).

Voting-

All participants MUST vote. If a participant does not vote, his/her submission will automatically be disqualified.

Each voter has 6 points to give, divided into 3 votes (3 points for his/her 1st place pick, 2 for 2nd 1 for 3rd). These votes SHOULD be based entirely on quality of presentation and technique- not on how much the voter likes the render/stock or the person who made the tag or pretty shapes/colors, etc.

Therefore, each vote MUST be accompanied by a typed reason for why that vote was cast. It does not need to be a paragraph, just a sentence or two detailing why that particular tag deserves that particular vote. Any vote lacking an explanation will be disqualified.

At the end of voting, the points will be added up and the winner will be declared. Each winner will be given a predetermined amount of Casino Cash, and will have the privilege of choosing the next week's theme.
