First, let me just let me say that it's good to see so many e's out and about in the CS servers. Glad you all decided to join a fantastic gaming organization!

Now, the reason for my post: Sprays
e's, I've been noticing a lot more questionable sprays from some of you. I know that each and every one of you is to read the rules and sign off on them. Sprays of naked women, women with strings covering private areas (and nothing else on), and suggestive poses with little or partial covering, is just not okay. You, as e's, are held to a much higher standard, and as such, putting up questionable sprays is not okay from the very beginning.

For anyone else reading this thread, know that those sprays will be removed, you'll be warned, kicked, or banned as well.

thats somethign i never got y treat our es diffrent then the rest of our people on our server ok yea they carey our tag as a e yes they no the rules ok fine i get that but we should still warn them eather a psay or just a admin consel warn then if it happens agin then u kick them i mean thats the thing we do with everyone els if i was still a e and i seen that happen and that kinda would look to me as faverits toward the people in our server u should treat them the same as u treat everyone els because u wana keep the peace u wana keep everyone happy and we dont need to be loseing members eather yes we are big css division i agree but we still need to treat everyone els the same no matter what

But yeah I've dealt with some e's with certain sprays, just listen to admins and don't argue, you don't want to get banned for something that simple. Good thread! :thumbup1:

I just don't understand why people want to clutter up the game with filth. If you want to look at it do by yourself. This is one thing I'm ok if you are selfish with, you don't have to share with me.

Only nude images are disallowed. Those that cover up the areas deemed private are okay. I personally don't have such a spray, but it doesn't mean that I should support your statement based on no server rule. If a higher-up were to clarify this issue, I would have a change of mind on my current opinion on the rule. However, for now, I will keep my own interpretation of what is stated in the Admin 101.

Not sure if I can quote the paragraph on here. Also, I think it would have been more appropriate to post a DropBox on this matter, and let the higher ups deal with it. Just my 2 cents.

I don't think you understood my post. I said that if he posted about it in the DropBox, the higher-ups would make an official announcement. To be frank, I have never seen an eGO member use a spray containing nudity.

Also, the reason why he should have used the DropBox is because he COULD be wrong, and send a false message to members and admins, causing bans for things which are not considered as against the rules.

Found here is the Code of Conduct I read. The part containing "sexual content" in sprays is this:

EGO Server and Forum Code of Conduct

2. No inappropriate or disrespectful sprays or names.
All sprays and avatar icons used on eGO servers should be PG-13 rated. No nudity is allowed. Final decisions on what is acceptable are left up to the admins in the server.
9. No website URLs in names, sprays or avatars.

#2 is very vague. PG-13 could mean many things. PG-13 films do have brief nudity in them as long as it's not sexually related. So technically, a naked woman taking a shower is PG-13 yet your rule is contradictory of itself by specifying "no nudity." The rule should say "All sprays and avatar icons ... should be PG-13 rated with the exception of nudity. No nudity is allowed." This makes the rule a little bit less vague.

#9 could suggest no porn URLs posted in the server.

PG-13 rating for sprays is itself contradictory. Counter-Strike: Source itself is not PG-13. CS:S is about nonstop killing of each other with blood everywhere, planting bombs, and killing hostages.

In the end, it's all about "Final decisions on what is acceptable are left up to the admins in the server." If the admin doesn't like a spray of a woman in underwear (which you can see on any Victoria's Secret commercial on any local news channel), or doesn't like a spray of a homosexual person because it could be offensive to their closed-minded culture, then they can ban the sprayer after going through the proper warning process.

I personally believe that it is hypocritical of eGO to host CS:S servers, an ESRB M rated game, without the use of profanity or nudity. However, eGO owns the server and who ever pretty much pays for it decides who stays or goes. They can ban me just because my name starts with an O and I can't do anything about it because, in the end, they own the server.

If you want to play here without drama, do not spray or say ANYTHING that could offend ANYONE. Otherwise, proceed with caution.

Online interaction isn't rated by ESRB, and it was rated M for blood and intense violence, not nudity and strong language.

I agree with you, but PG-13 movies don't show direct images of the female taking a shower (unless you're watching french TV), they show the outside of the shower.

Yes, but that's the parents' decision on whether their kids are allowed to play. We want to keep the organization open to all ages, by decreasing the amount of vulgarity.

Apart from that, I agree with you. Admins do take it upon their own initiative of what's right and wrong, but that's what admins are for. You can't expect a rules that cover everything like country laws. Common sense is required to be an admin, but it doesn't mean you can create your own rules.

This is the largest wall we run into when trying to admin language. First things first, as you said, it is eGO's servers, and they have set the rules to which we all abide, or we find somewhere else to game.

Profanity is a slippery slope... it opens up the flood gates to pubbers coming in and starting flame wars because profanity is allowed. And where do you draw the line? Is the F word off limits but everything else is ok? What about words some cultures consider swears but others don't? Such as c*** or wanker etc. Or what about slang words? There is way too much gray area to admin around. And you could write a novel trying to dictate what is tolerable and what is not. And the game is rated mature... so the persons playing should take a cue from the game cover and act mature. Swearing only emphasizes your ignorance.

Personally I find it refreshing that I don't have to put up with that nonsense in game.

And on a side note, if an admin doesn't want a homosexual spray, it's not because we're a "close-minded" culture, it's because at this point in our existence, it's considered a taboo topic and is heavily debated. We keep all politics and debates out of the servers. Online gaming is not the place to try to solve world problems or flame people because of opinions... best solution, don't allow it in there in the first place.
