so here is some videos and some tips, etc., its a little big, take your time to read it, enjoy it

Jump names/definitions

  • rj/rocketjump
Shoot a rocket at the ground, it explodes and boosts you. using jump and crouch makes you go higher/further.
  • walljump
When you rocket jump off a wall instead of the ground. also used for rocket jumps off walls after the original RJ.
  • wallshots
[Rocket jumps after the first one where you shoot off walls.
  • pogo
Holding yourself up with explosions from rockets shot at the ground (hold fire)
  • wallpogo
Pogoing on a wall instead of the ground
  • drop pogo
Pogoing down (variations are single wall and 'double wall'/corner drop pogo)
  • wallclimb
Pogoing up, also used for rocket jumping up
  • speedshot
When you barely tap the ground and skip off it, the timing is pretty hard but it gives you a huge boost.
  • speedpogo
Pogoing with speed. usually called pogoing instead of skipping because you hold fire and there isnt a real delay between shots
  • double
When you jump off of two rockets that explode at the same time
  • triple
When you jump off of three rockets that explode at the same time
  • quad
When you jump off of four rockets that explode at the same time
  • syncing
Anything that you sync rockets together for, like triple/quad rj's
  • airstrafe
Turning in midair using strafe keys and the mouse
  • waterjump
Rocket jumping in water to get more of a boost than a normal RJ.
  • flick jump
When you do a 180* turn, rocket jump, and turn back forwards. (usually just called rocketjump)
  • ducktap/ctap
Type of rocket jump that goes further than a normal RJ crouch/shoot/jump. considerably harder.

How To: The Classic Rocket Jump

here is a simple video that explains very esayly how jump

The classic rocket jump is something all soldiers should know, even if they dont jump. Learning the basic rocket jump is essential to trick jumping as a soldier in tf2.

The ultimate tf2 rocket jumping tutorial best explains the fundamentals of the classic rocket jump:
a simple rocket jump consists of 3 components:
1. normal jumping
2. crouching
3. shooting

combined at the same time:
- a classic rocket jump

How To: Wall / Boost Jump

Wall jumping consists of approching and facing a wall then performing the basic rocket jump only aiming at the base of the wall just above the ground instead of the ground itself. Once done well, is slightly faster then the basic rocket jump. The wall rocket jump or boost jump is a technique that requires great fluidity, but once mastered proves verys useful in rushes.

How To: Strafing and Air Control

Controlling your movement in the air is very important when rocket jumping. Air strafing allows players to curve in mid-air, which is crucial in jumping. Here are the basics:
  • Hold your CROUCH key
  • To move LEFT hold A and move your mouse at a consistent speed to the left
  • To move RIGHT hold D and move your mouse at a consistent speed to the right
  • NEVER PRESS W WHILE STRAFING - Pressing W instantly kills your strafe

How To: Advanced Wall Jumps

Advanced wall jumps are used while in the air and against a wall. The first advanced technique is the wall climb.

  • Wall Climb
  • Wall climbing is exactly what it sounds like - climbing up a wall using rockets. To climb, continue to hold crouch and fire down and slightly left (as your rocket launcher is on your right shoulder) while holding W to keep yourself against the wall. The explosion will produce a second jump and allow you to "climb" the wall. The following video shows you how to wall climb, then continues into our next technique, walljumping.
  • Walljump / Wallshots
  • Walljumps, or wallshots, are used to gain great distance or height after the initial rocket jump. Every time you shoot the wall, you will be pushed away from it. To counter this, you want to strafe back towards the wall.

How To: Wallpogo

Wallpogo is one of the hardest jump skills to master. It is basically a ground pogo on the wall, but instead of going forward and backward, you must move up and down along the wall.
