i have the asus g72gx laptop and had a diagnostic on it and it came back with a bad hard drive. I installed a new hard drive and used the AI recovery restore discs which is the proper procedure from my understanding however after it says that the ai recovery restore is done and completed the pc restarts and says use proper boot device.. which i have the hard drive in.

side notes i have gone into bios and made the HDD the primary but it doesnt work.

Thats Y Is My Guess... You Need A Windows XP/Vista/7 32-bit/64-bit Then Pop It In The CD Drive N Install The OS... If You Dont Have A OS U Dont Have Anything

Ur PC Had Windows 7? The 1 That Had It Is The Old Hard Drive... U Have A New 1 Hard Drive Now... So U Need A New Windows 7 On That Hard Drive Unless U Want 2 Use Ur Old Hard Drive With Windows 7 On It... Go 2 Future Shop, Best Buy, Or U Could Buy It Online... IDK About The Restore DVD... I Dont Think U Can Transfer Ur Old Hard Drive Files To Ur New Hard Drive If U Cant Get The Old 1 Working N Even If It Did IDK Wht 2 Do To Transfer A OS... U Would Need 2 Clone Ur Old HD N Put It On Ur New 1... Wait 4 A Pro

Check with the computer manufacture sometimes you can get the disks sent to you for $20 bucks sometimes its more just depends. Other then that only other way is to get your hands on a OS Install disk. (or make one using an iso image) If you have a valid key you just need to get the same copy. eg Win 7 Home Premium 32 bit. Install, put in your key to activate. You may have to call microsoft for them to let you activate but if it's your 1st drive replacement on that computer then you should not run into issues.

Negative, MS will still see the key having been activated on another HDD. Which is why you generally have to call MS in a case like this.

I'm sure if you told Microsoft that your old hard drive failed, and you gave them proof of purchase that they'd give you a new key for win7 or what ever OS you had on there.
