I've tried to play tf2 a few times today, and about after 10 minutes, the game shuts down, and I get a message saying that hl2.exe is not responding. Has anyone else encountered this problem?

Nope? Try reinstalling. OR JUST GO TO STEAMS CRAPPY SUPPORT CENTERE.

Right click your tf2 game from your steam library and click properties. Click the local content tab, then click verify integrity of game cache. A little window will come up saying it is validating files. Just wait for that to end and try launching, hopefully this will fix it. :D

1. Open up your steam library
2. Right click TF2
3. select properties
4. go to local files
5. verify cache
6. wait
7. defrag
8. done

EDIT: phlubs beat me...

If none of those work you may need to clear your cache. Because you may be getting an error with some maps, or addons or what not.

Not sure if it's related, but lately people (including myself) have been experiencing crashes in the crafting screen. So far, it looks like using the scroll wheel and/or mousing over the Sydney Sleeper will crash hl2.exe.

Thanks everyone! I probably already had it fixed by the time you all responded though :P. I had Angelus Mortiss help me out. :D

I've got the same issue. Thankfully I managed to figure out that if I scroll down really slowly and don't scroll over the item names I won't crash my crafting.

Because it runs on the half-life 2 engine/core game

On Mac, it's called hl2_osx, so they did the same thing there.
