AVG bad?

Hello fellow eGO members, I have a problem. So today i got my starcraft 2 working by disabling AVG security, but now SC 2 isnt working no more. I tried disabling but it didnt work again. I dont know if SC 2 is acting up or AVG is causing this game to act up. I heard that Avast is a good Anti-virus program to use, much better then AVG. So do you guys think my SC 2 isnt working or is it AVG causing the problem, please tell me;

AVG is working fine. Just sounds like you're having a problem enabling/allowing programs to run (Program is allowed to connect to the Internet, etc.).

Try reinstalling starcraft, then check to see if it's an allowed program that can connect to the Internet, and such. I got AVG as well and I'm having no issues running SC2 on my PC.

SnipeyeI did try reinstalling it, it work fine when I disabled AVG, but then the game started acting up again, "Internal Error", so I don't know if I should ask Blizzard if the game isn't compatible with windows vista or that the new patch has cause some major errors. I've seen another person who has faced the same problem like me on SC 2. I don't understand the internal error at all, I don know what I'm missing for Starcraft 2 :/

It's probably not an AVG related problem, but DO NOT USE AVG!

It's really an overrated program that doesn't do much, takes up too much space, and updates every friggin week. Use MSE.

I agree, do not use AVG. Back in the day Kaspersky PC-Cillan used to be amazing. I personally like Kaspersky products to this day.

I used to use AVG and recommend it to everyone, however as time went on AVG has gotten to the same category as Norton or McAfee which is not good. The issues are that the software is resource heavy and when attempting to uninstall the software, it can be almost like trying to remove bad malware. With that said, I recommend using Microsoft Security Essentials which is free to use and no subscription fee. Avast is also a well recommended program by some great tech sites that I use. Either one of those antivirus programs will do.

I would start out by uninstalling AVG through Start > control panel > add or remove programs/programs and features. After the uninstall is complete and you've restarted your computer, run the AVG uninstaller tool to be sure all registry keys and other AVG related junk that tends to get left behind are all removed. Have whichever antivirus you choose to use downloaded and ready on your desktop. If you are using Vista or Windows 7, right click on the install file and left click on run as administrator and begin the installation wizard. If you are using Windows XP just double click on the installation file to begin the installation wizard. After you've installed the antivirus program be sure to update the virus definition to the most current one. Restart your computer once this is finished. Report back to let us know if this has changed your existing issue.

Updates for any software generally means bug fixes or security fixes. Please do not think updates are a bad thing. Yes software sometimes can be buggy and sometimes there are an occasional update (generally speaking) such as some Windows updates, can be the cause of crashes, etc. but generally updates are a good thing. Be careful what you recommend as a lot of people will take your words for 100% truth and turn an opinion to fact. Read my above text to see my experience with AVG along with my opinion.
